Overview

This 8-day safari is designed for the Great Migration season and offers extended time in both the Central and Northern Serengeti. The itinerary provides excellent opportunities to follow the movement of wildebeest and zebras as they travel through the Serengeti ecosystem. In the Northern Serengeti, you will witness the famous Mara River crossings, where herds attempt to cross the river as part of their annual migration. The safari also includes visits to Tarangire National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater, giving you the chance to experience a variety of landscapes and wildlife.

Your safari will be conducted in a 4x4 Toyota Land Cruiser specially built for wildlife viewing and comfort. Each vehicle features a pop-up roof, large windows, comfortable seating, charging ports for electronic devices, and a refrigerator to keep drinks cool during game drives. Every guest is guaranteed a window seat, ensuring excellent views of the wildlife and scenery throughout the journey.

Welcome to Tanzania! After landing at Kilimanjaro Airport near Arusha, a Tansafari Tours representative will greet you at the airport and then drop you off at your hotel. Depending on your time of arrival in Tanzania, you can decide for yourself on the spot if you would like to receive a short safari briefing with your guide on the same day or the next morning. The rest of the day will be free for you to spend at your leisure. Enjoy relaxing at the hotel before embarking on all the exciting activities awaiting you the next day!

Day 2: Game Drive in Tarangire National Park.

Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, you will depart for Tarangire National Park for a full day of game drives. The park is famous for its large elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, and beautiful landscapes. As you explore different areas of the park, you may encounter lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, and a variety of bird species. In the afternoon, you will enjoy a picnic lunch within the park before continuing your wildlife viewing. Later in the evening, you will drive to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Discover the Big Five in Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, you will drive to the Ngorongoro Crater for a full-day game drive. The Ngorongoro Crater is the world's largest intact volcanic caldera and supports a wide variety of wildlife within its crater floor. During your safari, you may see elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests, gazelles, hippos, hyenas, lions, and numerous bird species. With some luck, you may also spot the endangered black rhino, which is found within the conservation area. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is unique because Maasai communities continue to live within the area alongside wildlife while maintaining their traditional way of life. After the game drive, you will ascend from the crater and proceed to your lodge in Karatu for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Central Serengeti Safari Adventure

Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you will depart from the Ngorongoro area and drive to Serengeti National Park. As you travel through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and into the Serengeti ecosystem, you will enjoy a game drive en route to Central Serengeti. Along the way, you may see a variety of wildlife, including zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, and various bird species. Predators such as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas may also be spotted depending on the day's sightings. You will enjoy a picnic lunch during the journey before continuing your game drive through the park. Upon arrival in Central Serengeti, you will proceed to your lodge or camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Northern Serengeti Wildlife and Migration Safari

After breakfast, you will depart from Central Serengeti and drive to the Northern Serengeti. Enjoy a game drive en route as you travel through different areas of the park in search of wildlife. Along the way, you may see wildebeests, zebras, giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, and several species of antelopes. Predators such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas are also commonly found in the Serengeti, particularly in areas where large herds gather. Depending on the season, your guide will take you to areas where the Great Migration is most likely to be found. If the herds are present in the Northern Serengeti, you may have the opportunity to observe wildebeests and zebras near the Mara River. You will enjoy a picnic lunch during the game drive before continuing towards the Northern Serengeti. Later in the day, you will arrive at your lodge or camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: A Full Day of Wildlife Encounters in Northern Serengeti

After breakfast, you will enjoy another full-day game drive in the Northern Serengeti. Your guide will take you to different areas of the park in search of wildlife and, depending on the season, the Great Migration. Predators such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas are frequently seen in the area, particularly near the migration herds. You will enjoy a picnic lunch in the park before continuing your game drive in the afternoon. Later in the evening, you will return to your lodge or camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Return to Central Serengeti National Park

Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you will leave the Northern Serengeti and drive south towards Central Serengeti. Along the way, you will continue searching for wildlife as you pass through different habitats within the park. You may encounter herds of wildebeests, zebras, giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, and various species of antelopes. Lions, leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas are also regularly seen throughout the Serengeti ecosystem. After enjoying a picnic lunch, you will arrive in Central Serengeti and continue with an afternoon game drive. The Seronera area, located in the heart of the park, is known for its year-round wildlife presence due to its permanent water sources, which attract both herbivores and predators. In the evening, you will proceed to your lodge or camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: End of Your Tanzania Safari Adventure

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Seronera Airstrip for your scheduled flight to Arusha. Upon arrival, the representative will meet you and transfer you to a restaurant for lunch.
