What you can expect

Darrel Joseph has specialised in the wine sector for more than 30 years as an international wine judge, journalist, and lecturer, providing expertise to some of the world’s most important wine competitions and publications. In this specially curated tasting experience, he will guide you through Austria’s key wine regions, grape varieties, and styles - featuring wines from historic family wineries as well as boutique start-ups. Moreover, all of this will be within the context of how to appreciate the wines from the perspective and approach of a wine judge - a truly unique learning experience.

Should you choose a wine tour outside the city, your co-host, Chris Sciacca will guide you: After spending 25 years in the technology industry, Chris exchanged his suit for overalls and started a small, organic winery in Krems, Austria from scratch in 2022. He will share some details on viticulture and the production of wine, while sharing his latest vintage.
