We welcome you to stay and enjoy the valley when your tour finishes. You can watch the geyser erupt again, re-visit the kiwi, explore the marae, enjoy an inu (drink) or some kai (food) at our cafe’ or restaurant, or do some shopping. Visitors generally stay on for at least 30 minutes after their tour ends and make the most of photographing this beautiful wāhi (place).

Please note that bookings must be made in advance, and are subject to availability and confirmation.

Please arrive 15 minutes before your experience time.

Entry into the valley is only via a guided tour.

What you can expect

This exhilarating combo extends on from our Te Ra experience by adding a captivating cultural performance in our beautifully carved meeting house, Te Aronui a Rua. It will include a pohiri (traditional Maori welcome), waiata (song), moteatea (traditional chant), poi and haka.

The Te Ra guided experience features a 90-minute tour through our geothermal valley, where you’ll visit the Pohutu Geyser, the Kiwi Conservation Centre, and the New Zealand Maori Arts and Crafts Institute.

Along the way, our knowledgeable kaiarahi (guides) will share their Maori traditions, heritage, and ancestral stories, offering unique insights into our rich culture.
