What you can expect

  • Begin your adventure with a convenient pickup from your accommodation in Kiruna. Board a comfortable minibus and head out into the dark polar night, leaving behind the city’s light pollution.

Travel to the “blue hole,” a statistically almost cloud-free area, increasing your chances of seeing the Northern Lights. Abisko has an “Arctic desert” climate because it sits in a rain shadow. It receives only about 300 millimetres of rain and snow each year, which is as dry as the Gobi Desert. Besides the fact that you have the best chance of seeing the aurora borealis here when it snows in other parts of Lapland, you are surrounded by magical nature that creates experiences you will remember for a long time to come. Your guide will use the latest weather and solar storm updates to maximise your chances of witnessing this magical natural phenomenon.

Along the way, stop at Abisko Canyon, the mountain forest at STF, and Abisko Harbour. Walk on the ice of the Torne Lake to get a mile-long view of the sky, surrounded by beautiful mountains to the sound of the growing ice!

If you get cold, warm up in the minibus and enjoy a hot drink.
