The regional archaeological museum is one of the most amazing in all of Sicily: inside it contains more than 5000 artefacts from the archaeological site of the Valley of the Temples. The museum layout is divided into 17 rooms according to a topographical and chronological criterion. There are two exhibition itineraries, one dedicated to the ancient city of Akragas/Agrigentum and the other to some significant contexts of central-southern Sicily. Discover the life, secrets and mysteries of the great Luigi Pirandello, undoubtedly one of the most important writers of Italian literature, Nobel Prize for literature (1934) The museum is located inside the birthplace of the writer, who lived here in his childhood and adolescence. The house was originally a rural building from the late eighteenth century, owned by the Ricci Gramitto family, ancestors of the writer's maternal side. Here, Caterina Ricci Gramitto, Luigi's mother, had taken refuge to escape the serious cholera epidemic that was raging in Sicily in 1867. The museum itinerary includes 6 exhibition halls. Each room is dedicated to a different theme, like stages of a journey through the life, works and imagination of Luigi Pirandello (1867-1936). Cost of the entrance ticket 4.00 euros. 2.00 euros for citizens under the age of 18 of the European community and non-EU citizens.
Stair of the Turks
  • 1h
A splendid dazzling white jewel that frames the clear blue of the sea is the Scala dei Turchi. One of the favourite destinations of southern summers, thanks to its conformation with soft, rounded and irregular lines and to the colour of its "cold" white cliff. On the beach adjacent to the Scala dei Turchi, reachable by land from the east side, you can stop freely and take a dip. It is possible to go down to the beach along a ladder and a small road downhill, or you can take advantage of the shuttle service (not always available). The remaining tour time will be used to travel between attractions.
