What you can expect

  • The Outsiders, the storey that defined a generation, reimagined as a groundbreaking musical.

In Tulsa, Oklahoma, 1967, the hardened hearts and aching souls of Ponyboy Curtis, Johnny Cade and their chosen family of ‘outsiders’ are in a fight for survival and a quest for purpose in a world that may never accept them. A storey of the bonds that brothers share and the hopes we all hold on to, this gripping new musical reinvigorates the timeless tale of ‘haves and have nots’, of protecting what’s yours and fighting for what could be.

The Outsiders comes to Broadway following a critically acclaimed world premiere engagement at La Jolla Playhouse earlier this year. Adapted from S.E. Hinton’s seminal book and Francis Ford Coppola’s iconic film,The Outsiders features a book by Adam Rapp with Justin Levine, music and lyrics by Jamestown Revival (Jonathan Clay & Zach Chance) and Justin Levine, music supervision, arrangements & orchestrations by Justin Levine, choreography by Rick Kuperman & Jeff Kuperman and directed by Danya Taymor.

The Outsidersis a poignant addition to Broadway's diverse collection of shows. It successfully captures the raw emotion and stark realism of the original novel, translating it into a dynamic and heart wrenching theatrical experience. The show's creators have masterfully crafted a production that seamlessly blends the gritty narrative with the immersive power of musical theatre.

Under Danya Taymor's direction, this beloved storey takes on a fresh and exciting form. Taymor brings out the best in her cast, eliciting powerful performances that stay true to the characters' roots while also embodying the spirit of the musical. The cast of The Outsidersis a wonderful ensemble of talented performers, each bringing their unique energy and interpretation to the characters they portray. The roles of Ponyboy Curtis and Johnny Cade, the show’s central figures, are brilliantly brought to life by Brody Grant and Sky Lacota-Lynch, capturing the essence of their characters' trials and tribulations. The cast's chemistry is palpable, underscoring the strength of the bonds that their characters share.

As a result, The Outsiders is more than just a musical adaptation of a beloved novel and film. It's a tribute to the timeless tale of youthful angst and the relentless pursuit of identity perfect for group outings. Whether you're a fan of the book, the film, o
