What you can expect

Step into the artistic heart of Thessaloniki and connect with its centuries-old Byzantine soul in this unique hands-on workshop.
Under the guidance of a local artist, you’ll learn how to create your own phylakto — a traditional amulet symbolising protection, good luck, and personal wishes.

During the workshop, you’ll design and decorate your amulet using fabrics, beads, and embroidery, and write a personal wish to hide inside it — a secret message of hope and creativity.
Your handmade piece can become a necklace, keychain, bracelet, earring, or bag charm — a beautiful memory of your visit.

You’ll also learn about the Byzantine influence on Thessaloniki’s art and its modern creative scene. If you wish, you can leave your amulet at the studio to be part of a larger collaborative artwork that will be exhibited — connecting travellers’ creations from all over the world.
