Beatles Statue

This is the first stop as we often use this to meet the guests who have booked this private tour as the meeting point. We will discuss why Paul is holding a camera and we have a photo of a very young Paul McCartney at the Pier head.

Walton

Drive around Clockview road to take photos outside the former Walton Hospital where James Paul Mcartney was born on 18 June 1942. The original clock tower and several of the original buildings are still in situ

Anfield

We stop outside 10 Sunbury Road in Anfield which was the first family home of Paul McCartney. Although Paul was born nearby at Walton Hospital on 18 June 1942—where his mother Mary worked as a nurse—this was the address the family returned to and where he spent his earliest months before moving to other homes across Liverpool.

Casbah Coffee Club

A true hidden highlight, we arrive to take photos outside the Casbah Coffee Club where Paul helped create the scene—literally painting the walls and ceiling himself. This is truly where it all began as Paul & John had both given up playing in 1958 and it was the opportunity to play the Casbah with George that made it all happen. Speke

In the Speke district, we explore the streets and landscapes that shaped Paul McCartney’s earliest years. Stopping to take photos outside his childhood homes on Western Avenue and Ardwick Road, you’ll see where his first memories, family life, and musical curiosity began within a working-class Liverpool community. The tour continues through the open spaces and shoreline of Speke, including the area around Oglet Shore, where Paul’s imagination was formed by a sense of freedom and exploration. We also visit Dungeon Lane, a quiet road later referenced in the name of his 2026 album "The Boys from Dungeon Lane" showing how these early surroundings stayed with him throughout his life and career. This section offers a powerful insight into the environment that helped create one of the world’s most influential musicians.

Huyton

Mother Mary's grave - This peaceful cemetery marks a pivotal moment in Paul’s life. His mother, Mary, is buried here in an unmarked grave. Her death when Paul was just 14 had a profound emotional impact, later reflected in songs such as “Let It Be.” This stop offers a deeper, more personal understanding of the experiences that shaped him. 147 Dinas Lane - Paul's Aunt Gin's house “This is where Paul celebrated his 21st birthday, right here at his Aunt Gin’s house. By this point, he’d gone from these local streets to worldwide fame—but he came back here to celebrate with family and friends.” There is also a storey about John Lennon here who had just returned from a 10 day holiday on his own with their Manager Brian Epstein.

Woolton Village

⛪ St Peter’s Church, Woolton – First Meeting & “Eleanor Rigby” At St Peter’s Church in Woolton, we visit one of the most significant locations in Paul McCartney’s early storey. It was here, at the church fête in July 1957, that Paul was first introduced to John Lennon—a meeting that would shape the future of popular music. Walking through the churchyard, you’ll also see the grave bearing the name “Eleanor Rigby,” often linked to Paul’s songwriting, showing how real places and everyday surroundings found their way into his lyrics. This stop captures a pivotal moment where friendship, music, and Liverpool life came together.

Penny Lane

Penny Lane – St Barnabas Church & Everyday Liverpool Life At the famous Penny Lane, we step into one of the most recognisable places in Paul McCartney’s storey—not just a song, but a real location filled with memories. Overlooking this area is St Barnabas Church, where Paul sang in the choir, developing his early musical ability, and later returned as best man for his brother Mike McCartney. Around the junction you’ll see the real-life features immortalised in the song—“the barber showing photographs,” “the shelter in the middle of the roundabout,” and the bank on the corner—bringing Paul’s lyrics vividly to life. The area also featured in his Carpool Karaoke with James Corden, including a visit to the barber’s shop, showing how Penny Lane remains a living part of his storey today.

National Trust - Paul McCartney's Childhood House

We stop outside Paul’s teenage home to take photos. This is one of the most important sites on the tour. It was here that he began writing songs and developing the confidence that would define his career. This modest house became the birthplace of a songwriting partnership that would change music forever.

Sefton Park

At Sefton Park, we explore a more personal and playful side of Paul McCartney’s early life. On the boating lake here, Paul would often hire rowing boats—famously ignoring calls to return, joking that when they shouted “come in number five,” he would simply row further away. This light-hearted storey, told by Paul himself, captures his independent spirit and sense of humour as a teenager. Just across from the park along Greenbank Drive stood the home of his close friend Stuart Sutcliffe, adding another important layer to this area’s musical history. This stop offers a glimpse into Paul’s everyday life in Liverpool—where friendships, freedom, and creativity all came together.

This unassuming terraced house was home to Percy Phillips’ recording studio, where Paul took part in his first recording session. It marks the moment when ambition became reality—capturing one of the earliest recordings of his musical journey.

Hope Street – LIPA, Liverpool Institute, Street Art & Ye Cracke On Hope Street, we bring together Paul McCartney’s past and present in one of Liverpool’s most culturally rich areas. Here stands his former school, the Liverpool Institute, where Paul studied as a teenager before later returning to save the building and transform it into the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts in the 1990s alongside Mark Featherstone-Witty. Just outside, you’ll find distinctive street art installations—including sculpted “suitcases” and a concrete guitar case bearing Paul’s name—symbolising Liverpool’s musical legacy and Paul’s global journey. A short walk away is Ye Cracke, a traditional pub linked to Paul’s student days, where local stories connect him to the historic “Dissenters” mirror.
