  • Please be sure to participate wearing socks. Customers will be asked to change into the tabi socks provided on site when going up on stage during the experience
  • You will actually go on stage and experience the dance, so please wear clothes that are easy to move around in
  • When participating in the tour, please remove all accessories (e.g., rings, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, watches)

Activity itinerary

[Nohgaku Experience] Enjoy an immersive programme led by professional Noh performers in an authentic Noh theatre where real Noh and Kyogen are staged. [1. Shimai Performance Viewing] Begin by watching a shimai dance performed by a Noh actor in formal attire, showcasing the refined basic movements of Nohgaku. [2. Nohgaku Commentary] Learn the origins of Noh, explore the Noh stage structure, and see actual masks and costumes up close while listening to cultural insights. [3. Practice / Stage Experience] Practice basic postures and steps under performer guidance. Afterwards, the curtain rises and you will try the hashigakari walk onto the stage. [4. Kagami-no-Ma Room Tour] Visit the sacred Kagami-no-Ma, a backstage space rarely seen, where performers prepare and put on their masks. [5. Noh Mask Wearing Experience & Photo Shoot] Watch how performers dress for the shimai dance, then wear a Noh mask yourself and take a commemorative photo. (Costume dressing may not be available for all participants.) [6. Shimai Performance Viewing] Finish with a second dance by a costumed performer, offering a deeper appreciation after your hands-on experience.
