Founded in 1160 by Templar Master Gualdim Pais, Tomar became one of the most important centres of the Templars in Portugal. After the medieval Order was dissolved, its Portuguese legacy continued through the Order of Christ, closely connected with Portugal’s religious, political and maritime expansion.

One of our founders has lived in the city for almost 50 years and holds a Master’s degree, completed with distinction, in Cultural Tourism Product Development. Since 2015, our team has welcomed travellers to Tomar, researching, interpreting and sharing its heritage.
Our guides were born and raised in Tomar and have a genuine connection with the city, its history and Templar traditions. This local knowledge is combined with a multidisciplinary approach involving specialists in Portuguese History, Cultural Heritage, Military Tourism and Cultural Tourism.

Our content is also curated with the contribution of an active member of the Ordem dos Pobres Cavaleiros do Templo de Jerusalém (OPCTJ), a contemporary Portuguese order of Templar knights. This provides an additional perspective on Templar heritage, traditions and their continuing cultural legacy.
