The experience begins right outside, in Bernini's colonnade, where 284 columns create a perfect perspective effect.

From the outside, you can admire:

• The Dome, designed by Michelangelo, which at a height of approximately 136 metres is now a symbol of Rome
• The façade: Designed by Carlo Maderno, it is an impressive example of late-Renaissance architecture.

Inside, the tour will include:
Michelangelo's Pietà – sculpted when he was just 24 years old, the only work signed by the artist
Bernini's monumental 95-foot-tall Baldacchino – located above the papal altar
