Set out from Tulcea on a full-day boat adventure through the heart of the Danube Delta, exploring traditional villages, wildlife-rich channels, Letea Forest, Sulina and the place where the Danube meets the Black Sea.
Leave Tulcea behind and cruise along narrow canals, lakes and waterways surrounded by reeds, water lilies and the remarkable wildlife of the Danube Delta. Along the way, look out for pelicans, cormorants, herons, egrets and other bird species that make this UNESCO-listed wetland one of Europe's most fascinating natural destinations.
Reach Mila 23, a traditional Lipovan fishing village located deep in the Delta and accessible mainly by water. Discover the quiet atmosphere of this unique community and learn about local traditions and life in the wetlands.
The area around Mila 23 is also close to the protected Roșca-Buhaiova region, famous for its large colony of Great White Pelicans and its exceptional birdlife.
During the stop in Mila 23, you can choose to enjoy a traditional meal prepared at a local gastronomic household. You can also discover the storey of legendary Romanian canoe champion Ivan Patzaichin at the Ivan Patzaichin Museum – Community Innovation Centre, located in his native village.
Continue towards Letea, where you can join an optional safari to Letea Forest. Travel across the sandy landscape and discover one of the most unusual ecosystems in Romania, known for its ancient oak trees, sand dunes, subtropical vegetation and free-roaming horses.
Next, continue by boat towards Sulina, the historic town located near the eastern end of the Danube. Explore its distinctive atmosphere and learn about the period when Sulina was an important international port shaped by sailors, merchants and communities from across Europe.
From Sulina, head towards Musura Bay and the mouth of the Danube. Watch the landscape open up as the river reaches the Black Sea and experience one of the most memorable moments of the journey: travelling from the narrow waterways of the Delta to the vast horizon of the sea.
Throughout the experience, your captain will share information about the Delta's wildlife, history, villages and traditions while adapting the navigation route to current water and weather conditions.
This tour is designed for travellers who want to experience much more than a short boat ride from Tulcea, combining nature, wildlife, traditional communities, Letea, Sulina and the Black Sea in one full-day Danube Delta adventure.
