A royal gate built by a 116 year old sculptor. A magical meeting between two rivers. A multi-tiered shrine to the gods. A testament to the early alliance between Balinese and Western artists. This walk will explore the old among the new, as we travel through ‘modern’ Ubud in a quest to uncover the past. Along the way, we’ll discuss the development of this area from the suburbs to the hub of city centre Ubud.

Accessibility:
As our walking tours take place around historic landmarks, there are aspects of our tours that we are unable to alter. These include uneven temple stairs, steep gradients and patchy pavements. Guests should be physically capable of climbing steps and prepared to walk around an urban environment for up to 3 hours.
Weather:
There may be times when the weather affects the tour start time. We operate rain or shine, but if the conditions are severe, such as an intense downpour, we'll call you before the start. Consider this part of your Bali adventure!
Environmental Commitment:
We at Ubud Story Walks want to do our part to reduce plastic in Bali's rivers. Please bring a reusable bottle for water refills.
