What you can expect

Join a pottery class and learn the unique way of making pottery in an African environment. Discover the art of pottery making, a skill that connects us to our ancestors and has been an important part of life for generations.

Begin by understanding how clay soil, a natural resource, is collected from swamps. Then, learn how to shape the clay into various objects like water pots, charcoal stoves, dishes, vases, and bowls.

Understand the process of hardening the clay with heat that makes your model item come to life uniquely for use. Enjoy the class under a shelter, providing a comfortable escape from the heat, as you model your cherished ceramic piece of remembrance in Uganda.

Also get to interact with the locals as you learn and craft the interesting skill of ceramic making objects.

Choose from eight options, each with different activities. During booking, when you click check availability and select date, kindly scroll down to see the listed different prices matching each of the three options to choose from carefully. 1. In Kampala, enjoy expert ceramic making and a souvenir takeaway. 2. In Entebbe, experience heat hardening, a sunset walk, and village community interactions. 3. In the Kampala Ghetto community, explore ceramic/pottery products and take a slum walk, including a big market visit. 4. In Jinja choose to enjoy either a 1 hour or 2 hour package with each having option to only mould or mould your pottery product for baking and pick it up 3 days. 5. In Gulu put your pottery imagination into action at one of the cultural centres as you work with one of the world’s renown ceramic expert whose work extend to Oxford cultural exchanges.
