Departure from the hotel heading to Valle Tierra Mayor. In this vast snowy valley, we begin the journey on sleighs pulled by Huskies. After crossing the valley, we enter the forest via an old lumberjack trail. In the midst of this century-old lenga beech forest, we arrive at the Hachero refuge (a small log cabin heated with firewood). We say goodbye to the Huskies, and our guide helps us put on snowshoes (without which walking would be impossible due to the snow depth, which usually reaches one metre). Our goal: the Alvear Icefall and the valley viewpoint. The return to the refuge is faster and more fun since it’s downhill and ends at the Hachero refuge. At the refuge, we recharge with a hot chocolate. From the Hachero refuge, we return to Valle Tierra Mayor walking with snowshoes.
