What you can expect

  • When you join in this 1-day tour cycling and caving at Vang Vieng, you will discover the most spectacular caves in the area and experience mountain biking across picturesque rice fields and wading through rivers amidst wonderful mountainous limestone scenery.

    You will depart from your hotel in Vang Vieng and go across the Nam Song River through a bamboo bridge before starting off the day with discovering one of the most spectacular caves in the area 'Tham Poukham' (Blue Lagoon) the amazing “Cave of the Golden Crab”. After that, you will head off via mountain bike on a tour which covers about 26km through the karst range of the Nam Song &Vang Vieng. After getting access to the far side of the ridge, you will take a steep hike to reach the Tham Poukham Cave, whose hidden corridors are filled with an endless array of stalactites and stalagmites, underground lakes, deep wells and up to 80 m high chimneys!

    Then, you will continue westwards to see the trail get increasingly rough when following the narrow valley of the Houay San stream until Pha Deng 'red cliff' appears at the right side.

    After that, you will continue until arriving in Phonxay, the first village on the banks of the Nam Khouang. The road here moves to the south and runs beside the Nam Khouang. You will follow it until meeting the crossroads in Ban Nathong Tai where you can see the road to the Nam Song Bridge leading you back to Vang Vieng where you end your great cycling adventure with a sunset drink by the river.

    Approximately: 4 hours cycling, 1.5 hours caving/walking
