What you can expect

Against the breathtaking backdrop of the Grand Canyon of Verdon, the deepest river canyon in Europe, you will be invited to look skyward and immerse yourself in the fascinating world of Europe’s largest birds. The griffon vulture, with its 2.80-meter (9.2-foot) wingspan, is the most common. But with a bit of luck, you might also spot the king vulture, or even the more elusive Egyptian vulture.

With you: Raoul, a passionate and knowledgeable local ornithologist, will share much more than just his expertise. He will explain how these birds were reintroduced in the 1990s, their vital role in the ecosystem, their flight and foraging techniques, their social behaviours, and the challenges they face today.

There’s no need to be an expert! These outings are suitable for everyone, adults and children alike, whether they are simply curious or avid birdwatchers. They take place at a fixed observation point (no walking).

Equipment (spotting scopes, binoculars) is provided, and you’ll leave with a wealth of knowledge, memorable images, and sometimes even fantastic photos.

A tour lasts for around 1.5 hours.
