What you can expect

Step into the landscapes of the First World War on a scenic drive through Vimy Ridge—aboard Citronette, a vintage open-air Citroën Méhari. Designed for travellers who want to see beyond the main viewpoint and enjoy a slow tourism experience.

Begin in the “village of remembrance,” Givenchy en Gohelle, with its Canadian flags, poppy and French cornflower sculptures, maple leaf signs and wall murals. We then drive along Vimy Ridge to get a full view of the heights captured by the Canadian Corps in 1917 and La Chaudière Military Cemetery.

Next, we slowly drive up to the Canadian National Vimy Memorial and continue across the preserved terrain of the park, with plenty of time for photos of craters, shell holes, trenches and Canadian cemeteries.

From the ridge, travel through the countryside around La Targette, passing British and French remembrance sites tied to frontline history, including a location associated with the Christmas Truce. The route continues towards the heights of Mont-Saint-Éloi, with additional memorials along the way, before arriving at Notre-Dame-de-Lorette.

At Notre-Dame-de-Lorette, take in France’s largest military cemetery and the Ring of Remembrance, honouring 580,000 fallen of all nationalities. Here we will have a stop for photo opportunities of the site and the once war-torn landscape, now rolling green hills, forests and farmers' fields.

To help you follow the route and absorb what you’re seeing, you’ll receive a printed guide with clear explanations and key points of interest.

We then head back to Vimy House in Givenchy en Gohelle with its beautiful rose garden and heritage boutique, where local artisans display their unique creations of poppy art, jewelery, and food specialities all from the Hauts de France.

Optional transfer to and from Arras or Lens.
