We will meet at the tourist square of Piano Provenzana Etna Nord. After checking the equipment, we will reach an altitude of 2,900 metres in a special 4x4 vehicle, and then our trekking will begin. The route is approximately 7 km long and will require us to climb 450/550 metres in elevation gain. The estimated duration is 4/5 hours. This adventure will allow us to discover: the volcanic area, the scenic landscape of northern and eastern Sicily, the Aeolian Islands, and the Calabrian coast. The northwest slope is the wildest and least known side of Mt. Etna, far from the usual tours and the chaos of hit-and-run tourism. Our trekking will lead us to discover the lava that characterises the flank of the Northeast Crater and the Central Crater. The summit area is a fascinating and dangerous place that demands respect and admiration. The time spent at the top will always depend on the volcanic activity and weather conditions. After admiring the impressive view from the summit area, we will begin the descent through the sandy gulleys that will take us back down to the Piano delle Concazze and the Pizzi Deneri observatory, from where you can enjoy a majestic view of the Bove Valley. We will return to the starting point in Piano Provenzana in a 4x4 off-road vehicle.
In accordance with the laws regulating activities in the summit area of Mount Etna, it is important to inform our customers that our trekking may be subject to changes based on the volcanic activity of Etna and the alert bulletins issued by the competent authority.
