What you can expect

  • Begin your adventure with a convenient pickup from your accommodation and take a 30-minute drive to the village of Rui Vaz, located at an altitude of approximately 700 metres.

    Interact directly with local farmers and learn about their agricultural practices in cultivating sugarcane, mango trees, cassava, and banana trees. From Rui Vaz, enjoy panoramic views of the São Jorge Valley and Pico D'Antónia, the highest point on Santiago Island (1,394 metres above sea level).

    Learn about the production of local rum (the rum production season runs from January 1st to April 31st) in the village of Longueira. After the hike, visit the country's only botanical garden, which preserves some of Cape Verde's endemic plants.
