Once a glamorous destination for celebrities and wealthy travellers, the Westward Ho has seen Phoenix through its highest highs and lowest lows. Opened in the 1920s, this historic building later became home to the city’s most vulnerable populations, layering it with decades of emotional and often tragic history. Today, visitors and residents alike report strange occurrences: phantom music drifting through empty halls, sudden cold spots, and sightings of mysterious figures, including a “Lady in Red” and even a one-legged ballerina said to glide through the building.

A. E. England Building

What stands today as the A.E. England Building hides a much darker past. Before becoming a power plant, the site reportedly housed a brothel and casino, later transforming into an industrial workplace where dangerous conditions led to frequent injuries and hardship. That layered history has left its mark. Employees and visitors have reported shadowy figures, unexplained mechanical sounds, and even lifts moving on their own. Some claim to hear children playing where no one is present.
