This is one of our most colourful tours, for not only will you visit the famous “Blue House”, but you will also meet the majestic architecture of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, the picturesque landscapes of Coyoacan’s city centre, and the colours of Xochimilco, “ Place of flowers”.
Our first stop will be a Cooperative Shop that helps the Mexican local artisans. Then visit Coyoacán, wich name in náhuatl means “place of coyotes“. Here, our guide will give you a brief explanation of the origins and importance of this quarter and its surroundings, and besides, you’ll have time to walk around its streets and if you want to, have a light breakfast (at your expense).
Next, you’ll visit the museum-house of Frida Kahlo, or the “Blue House”, where you’ll meet the intense relationship between Frida, her works, and her home, where she was born and also where she died.
Although after marrying Diego Rivera she lived in different places in Mexico City, and abroad, she always went back to her old house in Coyoacan. The trip continues towards one of Frida Kahlo’s favourite places, Xochimilco. Here not only will you get information on its origins, going back to the pre-hispanic times, but also enjoy a ride on a trajinera, a traditional boat of the zone.
After the ride, you’ll have spare time to walk around the crafts market or try the delicious food sold in the surrounding area. Our last stop is Ciudad Universitaria.
Our guide will explain to you the murals of Rectoría and the Central Library belonging to the main campus of the National University.
