[June to November]
The meeting point, Nogawa Manabikan, is a 10-minute drive from Nagai City. After checking in and using the bathroom, it's another 10-minute drive to the boarding point. As you paddle through the lake surrounded by mountains, multiple waterfalls bring you the pleasant sound of water and coolness. As you paddle along the waterside, winding left and right while looking at the vibrant broadleaf mountain ranges and rock faces, you will soon arrive at the entrance to Mifuchi Valley. Offering prayers to nature and the gods, you canoe further between the steep granite cliffs and find yourself in a different world, cut off from the outside world. Mifuchi Valley, where cool air and silence continue even in midsummer, is a power spot where the legend of the dragon god remains. You will be enveloped in an emotion that cannot be expressed in words. A mini-adventure tour where you can experience sacred history and culture while enjoying a leisurely canoe ride with a guide! Anyone who has been in a canoe at least once and has average physical strength can participate. Please rest assured that there will be at least two guides accompanying you at all times.
・Tour Conditions
The tour will be held rain or shine, but in the event of strong winds, the guide may cancel the tour on the day. If the tour is cancelled due to weather conditions the day before, we will contact you as soon as possible. In that case, we will refund the full fee.
・Participation Conditions
Anyone who has been canoeing at least once and has average physical strength can participate. Portable toilets are available as the course is a little longer. You can use them at the spots where you can land along the way.
For those who are worried about their physical strength, we offer the “Guide ride together” option, where you can ride in one canoe with a guide.
・Digital Detox
There is no mobile phone signal during the tour, including the starting point of the canoe. Get away from the phone and the Internet and enjoy a conversation with nature.
This project is based on the “Opening up of waterfront spaces” and is carried out in collaboration with the Yamagata Arcadia Tourism Bureau with the permission of Nagai City, the occupant of the plaza.
