Experience Impression Liu Sanjie, the world's first large-scale outdoor “landscape” performance, staged on the real waters of the Li River in Yangshuo with twelve moonlit karst peaks as a natural backdrop. Created by acclaimed director Zhang Yimou together with Wang Chaoge and Fan Yue, this 70-minute spectacle brings together more than 600 performers — many of them fishermen from the surrounding villages — in a breathtaking blend of light, music, and folk culture.
The show is inspired by the legend of Liu Sanjie, the beloved “song fairy” of Zhuang folklore. Across a series of vivid scenes, glowing fishing rafts drift across the water, flowing red silks ripple like fishing nets in the night, and performers from the Zhuang, Yao, Miao, and Dong ethnic communities fill the river with song, colour, and ceremony. Towering karst silhouettes, ever-changing lighting, and the sound of mountain folk songs turn the entire river and mountains into a living stage.
