Overview

Kotagede is form of some kampung which used to be a Palace area of Mataram Islam in 16th century. The palace of Mataram was moving to Pleret, that made Kotagede become into old residence with Javanese architecture. The interesting thing is that the ownership status doesn’t belong to Sultanate. There is a term, “rukunan”. It describes a condition of Javanese residence where the owners have an agreement to make a part of their house to be a way that connects between one house to another, So that everyone can access with some condition. You will experience dinner in one of the house in the rukunan. This Joglo house is owned by Joko Nugroho who is the 6th from the first owner.

You will have an exclusive of Javanese dinner in Pendopo of private Joglo House. The host family will also accompany and have a talk with you freely. They serve a full set fine dining, from the starter, the main course, and the dessert, of course with local cuisine. You are also given a permission to explore the main building of the house (that is usually private). It is possible to have more private dinner without the host family.
