OPTION FROM ZANZIBAR :
Your adventure begins with an early morning hotel pickup in Zanzibar between 4:00 AM and 5:00 AM, depending on your hotel location. Travel to the airport for a scenic 45–50-minute flight to Mafia Island.

Upon arrival, our local team will welcome you and take you to the departure point. Before heading out to sea, your experienced guide will provide a safety briefing and explain responsible whale shark interaction. Snorkelling equipment and life jackets are provided.
Board a traditional local boat and head to the whale shark area. During the appropriate season, you’ll have the opportunity to swim and snorkel near wild whale sharks while following responsible wildlife guidelines.

After the marine adventure, return to shore and enjoy a freshly prepared local lunch.
Continue your experience with a visit to Mafia Island’s famous Flying Foxes, the island’s unique giant fruit bats. If time allows, you may also explore Kilindoni town and experience a glimpse of local island life.

In the afternoon, return to Mafia Island Airport for your flight back to Zanzibar. Upon arrival, your driver will meet you and transfer you back to your hotel.

OPTION FROM DAR ES SALAAM.
Make your own way to Nyerere International Airport and be ready for your scheduled morning flight to Mafia Island. Hotel-to-airport transfer in Dar es Salaam is not included, but can be arranged for a small coast.

Upon arrival in Mafia, our local team will welcome you and take you to the boat departure point. After a safety briefing, board a traditional boat and head out in search of wild whale sharks.

Swim and snorkel alongside these incredible marine animals under the guidance of experienced local guides and responsible wildlife practices.

After the whale shark experience, enjoy a freshly prepared local lunch before visiting the famous Flying Foxes. If time allows, explore Kilindoni town and experience the authentic atmosphere of Mafia Island.
In the afternoon, return to Mafia Island Airport for your flight back to Dar es Salaam.

OPTION FROM MAFIA HOTELS:
Meet your guide at Afro Beach Hotel and begin your whale shark adventure. Sail to the whale shark area and enjoy swimming and snorkelling with wild whale sharks during the season, following responsible wildlife guidelines.
Snorkelling equipment, life jackets, and local lunch are included. After the experience, visit the Flying Foxes before returning to Afro Beach Hotel.
