Experience two very different landscapes around Zhangye in one private day route. Start with Alien Valley, a Danxia area known for unusual rock shapes, layered colours, and a raw desert atmosphere. Unlike many viewing-platform-only scenic areas, parts of Alien Valley allow vehicles to enter, giving you a closer way to see the landforms and rock texture. Continue to Kangle Grassland, where the scenery changes from dry red landforms to open meadows, distant snow mountain views, and cattle and sheep grazing across the grassland. This contrast makes the day more varied: one part feels almost otherworldly and geological, while the other feels wide, pastoral, and refreshing.
