I had a wonderful night’s sleep at the Ambleside Inn. Bed very comfortable, facilities in the room all I could have needed. The staff are helpful and friendly. Parking is a 5 minute walk away so if you have lots of luggage, worth dropping it at the Inn before parking at the Rydal car park (£8.80/night).

Lovely Pet Friendly Inn
Lovely Pet-Friendly Inn Nice renovated rooms No parking. Paid council park down the road. We had a pizza down the street but had a few beers in the pub which was dog-friendly.

Good central location and staff very nice and helpful. Clean room, but a bit small and dated. The room was also too warm, although I'm sure a lot of guests would like that. Unfortunately no car parking facilities, so parking can be a little expensive being in, The Lakes.

The facilities in the room were very poor, no telephone or remote for the TV. Bathroom was tiny, you could nearly turn around in there. The shower was a dribble of water. There were only 3 staff on when we arrived and the pub was heaving. Staff had a couldn’t care less attitude, especially when I reiterated my earlier email request of a twin room. There were only 2 staff on at breakfast, again it was very busy, and no one was assisting people on what to do. Breakfast was poor also. I feel totally ripped off by this pub, I stayed in a 5* hotel the night before with fantastic staff, amenities and catering for a fraction of what this place charged! They should have been wearing a mask when they took my payment as I felt robbed!

The staff were very friendly and worked very hard to make our stay comfortable. They went out of their way to make our holiday enjoyable. The Inn is conveniently located in the centre of Ambleside, so you have easy access to shops and restaurants.

It is a lovely Inn right in the heart of Ambleside, staff were very helpful. We enjoyed the stay. The room was ok, however having a fan to make the room bearable was disappointing.

Property was in the center of Ambleside. Perfect for first time visitors and not far from car park if you are driving. Hotel was clean and comfortable.

Good for walkers
Well positioned although you might have to drive round a few times to park on the street (free from 1800 to 1000 next day). Food is good pub grub, great post walk and the staff are all friendly

Short break with family room .
Family room for 3 adults was ideal for our short stay with king size bed and bunk beds in separate area which suited our grown up son.Good breakfast with plenty of choices and all hot food cooked to order. Decor in main areas very pleasant.

Great hotel - I was a bit wary of the buffet English breakfast but it was all hot & very nice. Bar prices were expensive I thought (£9.15 for a pint of blue moon & half a madri shandy!)

The hotel and the room was pleasant enough. The things that dragged down the rating were (i) a particularly surly member of staff who worked behind the bar and couldn’t have been any more unwelcoming if he had tried, and (ii) the quality of food for both dinner and breakfast was poor, to the extent on the last morning we preferred to go to the local Greggs than eat in the hotel.

Warm Lakes Welcome :)
For such a central busy location, this is such a cosy and welcoming place, all the staff were brilliant, chatty and friendly and it is truly dog friendly, our boy was as welcome as we were in all areas. The room was lovely and super comfortable and my husband, me and our pooch all slept like logs. The food was really good too. Top marks

Served its purpose very well
I had a client group who I was talking to a local training provider who had no accommodation this week. There was also very little space in their regular hotels so we tried the Ambleside Inn. When I asked my client group how they had found it one of them said "ten out of ten" and most others said they were very happy with the hotel - only one of them had a minor complaint which was that their room had been noisy. So I'd recommend the hotel for further use. I had one evening meal which I'd describe as good pub food, the breakfasts were good and the staff very friendly

Enjoyable stay
Buffet breakfast ok. Evening menu was great. Everywhere was very clean but the rooms were too hot - not a great nights sleep. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Overall good value and would go back

Great last minute trip
Lovely stay in a comfy room, optional daily cleaning but the room was clean enough and was only a short stay. Definitely stay again. All staff very friendly. New member of staff very nervous but pulled a good pint
