It was easy to access some of the major sites in Amsterdam from this property. The breakfast was excellent, and the numerous people we interacted with at the front desk while we were at the hotel, were all engaging and pleasant. I would definitely stay in this hotel again, when I come back to Amsterdam.

What a nice stay this was! The room was very nice, and the bathroom was fabulous! Would recommend to anyone. 2 adults and 2 children in our party, and thought it was tight. It was a wonderful room for us.

Loud street noise. Bad beds.
Bed was just soft enough to not bruise. It felt like sleeping on the ground. The mattress was like a solid block of foam. Meanwhile, while laying awake we listened to drunks outside until 4AM and loud scooters all night. Windows were like paper. Staff were kind and location was convenient to some Amsterdam attractions.

Dear guest, Thank you for your friendly words about our staff and location. Our matrasses are medium soft. Some guests find our beds too soft and some too hard. It is for a hotel not possible to choose a matrass which suites to all guests. Fortunately most of our geusts gave us positive feedback about the beds. Sometimes it can be noisy outside in the citycenter of Amsterdam.Especially in the weekends We know this and this is why we have double glass in all windows. When the window is closed the noise is very limited, I have checked, but I do not have receive any complaints in the last weeks. Tip for the next time: Let us know while you are staying in the hotel and not after your check out. In most cases we can solve it right away.

I was really disappointed with the room in this hotel. It wasn't clean - the kettle station was covered in a thick layer of dust, the mugs were dirty, the shower was covered in hairs - as was one of the towels. It also smelled a lot like smoke, which was strange considering it was supposed to be a non smoking room. The rooms are very close together and walls very thin. We didn't get a good night's sleep on any of the nights as we were kept awake by the guy next door snoring and/or the couple the other side's loud conversations and music. However, the staff were very friendly and it was located in a great location. It was really easy to access some of the main sights, as well as public transport to go further afield.

Hotel Nicolaas Witsen was a lovely little gem of a hotel. The rooms were small but comfortable, the bathrooms was clean and well stocked with supplies, and the location was quiet but close to all the places we wanted to see and experience. The staff were attentive to our needs, very friendly, and always smiling. We would definitely stay here again.

Great little hotel! I love Amsterdam!
Room was clean and comfortable. First night I had a problem with maybe air freshener but it was resolved right away. Location was excellent. Staff warm and friendly. Breakfast excellent. Shower had lots of hot water and was very clean. I stayed 3 nights and would stay there again.

Very clean and well maintained hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful with 24 h reception. A nice 25 min walk to the Dam square. Located on a quiet neibourhood. Only downside that the walls are quite thin as you can hear lot of noises from corridor or other rooms. Would recommend it.

The building was a very old and historic building which I liked very much and also enjoyed reading the history of Nicolaas Witsen on the place mat at Breakfast.Breakfast was also very enjoyable Boutique style breakfast each morning and the staff were very friendly and acomodating..The location was also ideal and everything was within walking distance and public transport.The room was very good,warm and kept clean daily,also good job by the staff.I would certainly recomend this hotel

The property has a great location !!! It is close to all activities...However, on our 2nd day , the cleaning person did not give us Towels, the 3rd day, we left room at 8:30am et retuned at mid-night, only to find the room was not cleaned. We have to go to the reception desk to get towels...We had to put out trash and dirty towels ourselves on the hall way. Two times, the gentleman at night desk was really nice.

Dear Claire, Thank you so much for your friendly and positive words about our location and night desk staff. I am sorry about the confusion for cleaning your room and change towels. On the outside of the room door is a sliding sign. By sliding this sign, you can choose for "please make my room" and "Do not disturb". When the sign is on "Do not disturb" it is not alloud for our housekeeping to get in the room. Also not for changing the towels. Fortunately our guests can always get clean towels at our reception.

I liked everything about this hotel, the staff was very helpful and responsive. Our window opened to a very quiet and green courtyard. It's 30 min walk to central station and 10 min walk to museums: Reijks, Van Gouh, etc.. A bit away from the most tourist areas but very close to everything.

Very much enjoyed the location which was central to areas we wanted to visit. Museums, Artzuid, etc. Able to walk everywhere. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast buffet looked good although we did not try it. Dining area very crowded both mornings. Room was small but we didn't need much more for our two night visit. Another reviewer noted the hotel looked "tired". I agree. Although clean, there was a musty damp smell at times that was quite noticeable. Hotel worked out for last minute trip to Amsterdam, but sure if I would return for a longer stay.

Excellent location close to Albert Cuyp Market and with a tram stop nearby. The room was very clean though hotel decor was a little tired. However, we were very happy with our stay here. Would definitely stay here again for the price for this location

Great location, fantastic staff!!
The staff are fantastic at the hotel. They are super friendly and very helpful. The area is a five minute walk to the metro station and a 20 minute walk to all of the food. And maybe a 10 minute walk to the Rijksmuseum and the Heineken experience The only downside to our stay was that there was no air conditioning so the hotel smelled a bit damp and a bit musty because of all the heat and the humidity. It made sleeping at night a bit difficult. The team was kind enough to provide us with fans and put us in the shadiest room they had. Given the climate change I think is permanent at this point, more and more hotels are going to have to spring for air-conditioning if they want to stay competitive.
