It was a rocky start to our stay with two tired, ill-equipped rooms spaced far apart so that we were separated from our school aged children by a very long hallway. Staff were very responsive and professional, however, and corrected their mistake after the first night—upgrading our family to two lovely junior suites for the remainder of our stay. The hotel is undergoing extensive renovations shortly so the parts that are tired will be modernised. The attentiveness of the hotel staff left an impression and will likely persuade us to return again once they reopen.

Dusit Thani is a history of Bangkok
It is such ashame that Dusit Thani will be closing down forever. We got a warm welcome and a room upgrading to a deluxe room. The room was nice, but a bit smelly.

Good to revisit Dusit Thani
Enjoyable to have another stay at the Dusit Thani in Bangkok. Excellent value breakfast. Meet & greet disappointing when arriving in our own car as not service-orientated with some confusion over where to park our car and lack of assistance with luggage

Disappointed with this Hotel. Based on the reviews I expected more. We were placed on the flour th floor facing air conditioner units and utility equipment. I attempted to pay more for a better room but they insisted that they were booked which I accept that’s fine. We went to our room and the carpet in the hallway is frayed and had what looked like bleach stains. Old looking and smelling. Our room was very worn looking, very early 80s. It wasn’t dirty but it wasn’t exactly what one would expect. Weeks earlier I had stayed at Grand Terminal 21 in bkk for the exact same price as this and the grand was sooooo much better. Definitely won’t stay here again especially when there are so many better options out there.

I understand it is about to be rebuilt, so not surprising to see the rooms were a bit "tired" in decor and upkeep. Staff were pleasant. Breakfast was good but overcrowded at times.

Fabulous Hotel
Beautiful Hotel - just as we remembered it 25 years ago on our honeymoon. This hotel has seen Royalty and numerous celebrities. The interior is still stunning and although slightly dated the rooms still feel luxurious, are very spacious and have balconies. Great facilities and several restaurants. It is also very convenient for local transport as the metro and skytrain are o your doorstep. But VERY sad news, after 48 years of grandeur the Dust Thani will be demolished in January 2019.

Hotel is old but, nice within walking distance to the Sala Daeng BTS Station & the Silom Metro Station. Area wise is not as vibrant as area around Central World.

Goodbye to a grand dame
Had to stay here one last time before they tear it down for a mixed use (read: more expensive) site. The place shows its age in the rooms but the public areas, staff, service, location and value are unmatched anywhere in the city. To this day and for years, the food in all venues is top notch and of very high standard. Several five star hotels have opened in recent years but none match the value Dusit Thani provides let alone the location which is undeniably excellent at the intersection of the MRT and BTS lines. Not to mention every taxi driver in town knows the Dusit Thani. Good luck asking any driver to take you to the St Regis, Waldorff, or Four Seasons bwahahaha! I dread what the new project is going to bring; inevitably higher prices for no gain in anything that matters to me, food and staff. Rooms were dated but always comfortable & functional. Please don't screw this up, I want to be a customer for life.

Goodbye Dusit Thani
The Miss Universe 2018 contestants lodged at the Dusit Thani during our stay. The whole place was noisy and upside down. The bar and other public areas were partly closed for guests staying at the hotel. Some of the Miss Universe entourage were occupying the lobby bar consuming pizza from cardboard boxes delivered from some outside joints, that is a no go in a 5* hotel, looks more like Pizza Hut. But the Dusit Thani, the first true international hotel in Bangkok, will be demolished in January 2019 to make room for one more boring shopping centre with the same boring designer goods as everywhere else in Asia and Bangkok. I guess, a month before the destruction they could not have cared less for what is going on in the hotel. It is a pity, I was a regular guest, my first stay was in February 1972 and it was my favourite hotel in Bangkok

Overall excellent. Only issue was on both days at breakfast. Small area hence waiting time is longer. Staff few hence service poor. English speaking staff to find at breakfast is difficult so simple things "i would like a strong pot of tea" aren't understood.

I'm a regular guest there so I always get a suite, which is a nice treat. I do know the hotel is closing permanently January 5, 2019 so maintenance hasn't been exactly up to par. But I went to a newer 5 start hotel after my stay at DT and the room, service, location and breakfast buffet did not come close to Dusit Thani's.

It was a delightful surprise that our stay coincided with the hotel's hosting of the MIss Universe preliminary on the 5th of Dec. I am glad we had the chance to stay at the hotel again, this time just before it closes for reconstruction. The food and Staff were superb!! See you when you open after construction.
