Understanding Large Gatherings
The Lodge was just as represented. Very clean, well organized, and for those with children in a wide range of ages plenty for all to stay occupied. Most of all, the hosts are generous in every aspect of planning. The bedrooms have all that is needed for space, great to have queen beds in each and so wonderful that each have their own bathroom. There are plenty of extra paper products, Kleenexes in each room, blankets, pillows and towels, even a couple of hair dryers. The kitchen has everything you may need; crockpots, fry pan, electric griddle, toaster, 2 coffee pots, blender, hand mixer, plenty of serving trays, pitchers and drawers full of serving and kitchen utensils. Games, books, cards, and many things to play with for the REC room. They also have many folding tables and chairs for groups to gather to eat or play games, in addition to the beautiful long table with 14 chairs! The only suggestion for improvement would be check-out time a bit later. Connecting over breakfast and coffee before departing was a bit rushed; with the size of lodge and the amount of people to start the day together, breakfast, pack, clean, double and triple check that all was left in good condition and enjoy the process together 10 am comes so quickly. However, this would not stop us from booking again, the Lost Branch Lodge offers a wonderful place to slow down and connect. Thank you!!

We stayed here and had our wedding here! Was wonderful, the hosts were so amazing and accommodating. One of the AC units was not working right and the hosts had someone over to look at it the next morning. Definitely would recommend to anyone!

Family trip
We stayed at Lost Branch Lodge for our 9th Family Trip, and everyone voted this our favorite place so far. The lodge was so organized and clean. The host thought of everything to make our stay easy, convenient, fun, and relaxing. It is such a beautiful place, and our grandchildren absolutely loved the pond, sand beach, fishing, swimming, and canoeing. Perfect spot for our family to reconnect!

This is our fifth year staying here. Such a beautiful setting and clean lodge. The kids all love playing in the rec room and we take full advantage of the kitchen. Thank you for a fun stay again.

Perfect family reunion venue
This spacious lodge has been our family's choice for our annual reunion for several years. Each year the owners seem to add more improvements that enhance our stay. Our grandchildren love the pond. The lodge is always clean and well maintained.

Great outdoor retreat
We have been coming here for four years now and enjoy the laid back escape from life’s busyness. The updates that have been done are beautiful and the space fits our extended family well. We love the small pond with beach located at the property for swimming with all ages and those that like to fish can do so on the far side of the pond. The only drawback is if you are looking for activities other than outdoorsy things there isn’t very much available in Kirksville. We have done the axe throwing and the escape room. We enjoy spending time at Thousand Hills State park where we can use boats and there is a beach there as well.

A summer tradition
This is our third in a row visiting Lost Branch Lodge and it is just as charming and accommodating as it was the first year. Gerald is continually making updates to the property to ensure his guests are well taken care of. I highly recommend this property.

Wonderful weekend getaway!
We LOVED this property! It was perfect for our annual Non-Family Reunion. We had a total of 20 people (adults & kids included) There were plenty of beds for everyone with some extra! The fact that each room has its own bathroom is a major plus with this many people involved. We adored the kitchen. It was stocked with everything we needed, plus its gorgeous! The long island and huge dining table made the kitchen our gathering place and we didnt have to cram into a small space to eat. The children spent the weekend swimming in the pond, which is extremely nice and clean. The dock and beach are a wonderful addition. We went on a couple rides around the pond in the canoe, even caught a couple fish (released back into the pond of course). The rec room is HUGE. The adults enjoyed playing pool and the kids had a huge place inside to play. The outside is also accommodated with a playground and lots of room to run and play. We brought the kids bikes and they had plenty of room to ride and enjoy themselves. We sat around the fire pit every night! The lights along the porch make for a great vibe. With the huge wide open sky, you can see the stars. We had an awesome experience. I would 10/10 recommend this property.

Nice place for family reunion
This property was so nice inside! It was the best equipped place we have ever had at a VRBO! The rooms are spacious, each with its own bathroom, including enough towels, blankets and hot water. The table is large with a lot of seating. We had a fire one night and saw a ton of stars. The place is in great condition with new appliances, including a double oven!! We will return for the next family reunion!

Wonderful place for a family gathering!
Our family of 23 came from 3 states to gather here to celebrate my mom's 70th Birthday. From 7 months to 70 years, everyone had an amazing time. The place is beautiful and had everything we needed and plenty of space for everyone to spread out. Having all of the outdoor space with the very nice play equipment as well as the large indoor gym area really helped keep the kids all busy the whole time. (The only thing missing we would have loved was to have life jackets to go in the canoe. I contacted via text and they came promptly but were unable to locate them. Hopefully they will have some there for the next visitors.) Each family having their own room with their own bathroom including shower was one of the draws to this listing and it didn't disappoint - it was so nice for everyone to have their own area with privacy and all be able to get ready at once without running out of hot water or having to wait in line for a bathroom. The kitchen was filled with everything we needed to cook large meals easily and had enough dishes for everyone. Two coffee makers was a nice touch we were grateful for. A very large refrigerator and nice nice stove/oven and dishwasher made everything run smoothly at meal and clean up times. All in all it was a perfect weekend and our family will return again if we plan another gathering. We would highly recommend Lost Branch Lodge to anyone with a large group of people.

Family gathering
This was the perfect place for my husband's family reunion. There are 8 siblings and spouses and so it was perfect for all of us to have our own bedroom and bathroom. The kitchen was perfect for our meals and we were pleased with the update to the kitchen tables and chairs. We spent the majority of the time outside playing games, walking the trails and canoeing on the pond. We had a perfect weather weekend but it was also set up nicely for indoor games, if needed. It was the perfect place for our group and would highly recommend it to any large group.

This is our second time at Lost Branch Lodge. We love this place. The remodel was terrific. Actually, pretty much everything was terrific with our stay this time. We enjoyed the accommodations, the pond, and the grounds. It was very clean with plenty of towels and sheets. It was a wonderful experience. - Everything is all on one level, this was a huge blessing for our parents - We loved that everyone had their own bedroom and bathroom - We had a great time at the beach - We enjoyed the pool table and the other toys in the closet - The kitchen was plenty big enough for our group to cook and eat in with nice tables and chairs to eat a meal together - The Internet worked well and had no issues - The living area was big enough for all of us to gather (22 of us) - We took advantage of having two refrigerators (one in the kitchen, and one in the rec room) We all had a great time!!

We love it here!
This is the second time we have visited this property. This time was to celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary. The rooms are perfect. The kitchen is beautiful and had everything we needed. We enjoyed the picnic tables, the pond, and even the walking trail at night! There are no TV’s, but we didn’t miss them one bit.

Amazing place
We had 14 kids aging from 2 years old to 18 years old. They all had a fabulous time. the play area was so much fun for the little ones. We brought kayaks and fishing poles, they were busy from morning to dark. They caught so many cool fish. Played on the beach. We had a hard time getting them to come in when it was time to eat. Oh and you people thought of everything, we wanted for nothing. It was all in the lodge. All my people kept saying how much they loved the place and we should come back. Places to eat, get groceries, or go to church, are just minutes away. Thank you so much for a wonderful weekend.

Great family get away
Our family has stayed at many places over the years but this one seems to check most all of the boxes of the things we want. There were no steps, so that was great for my dad that walks with a walker. The private bathrooms for each bedroom was a huge plus! The large kitchen worked wonderfully and was supplied very well. We didn't use the rec room much but that would have been a big plus had we had any rainy weather. Our weather was perfect so we spent most of our time outside and at the pond. We mentioned that we didn't think we've ever stayed at a place that was so well stocked and so clean before. Thanks for a wonderful stay. The only negative I have is that it's a little farther away from home than we are used to going.

Our annual event
It was wonderful. The kids loved the play ground. It would be great to have a little bridge over the ditch to the playground. The little ones slid around in the middle. Loved the new patio area. The new fridges had more room. A small freezer for ice would be a great addition. The back room was great and loved the retaining wall around the sand. We have missed being there the last two summers and already have our res. For next year.

This is the second time we have held our family reunion at this property. It is clean and well-maintained. In fact, the owners made some upgrades since we last stayed there. The kids love the pond and the short nature trail. There is a lot to do there, both inside and outside. It is our favorite spot for a family reunion

We had infants up to age 90 and we all had a great time! The Lodge was clean and comfortable. The rec room was great for the kids if they needed to get out of the heat. The kids enjoyed the play structure immensely. The pond was enjoyed by the young and the old. We spotted a turtle and loved taking the canoe out. I appreciated that you couldn’t hear living room and kitchen sounds down the hall in the bedrooms as we had little ones napping throughout the day. No complaints! The family is already discussing a trip for next year!

Family fun weekend
With life being so busy, our family looks forward to this weekend every year. The upgrades/remodel were wonderful and a nice surprise. The kids used the jungle gym and we had a beautiful weekend to play in the lake. We have done this numerous years and looking forward to next year again! It gives us the time to unwind, get caught up, and enjoy bonding!

Great family getaway for a large crowd
We had a great time at Lost Branch Lodge. We enjoyed the accommodations, the pond, and the grounds. It was very clean with plenty of towels and sheets. It was a wonderful experience and we are planning on coming back next year. Here are some of the things we really enjoyed: - Everything is all on one level, this was a huge blessing for our parents - We loved that everyone did have their own bedroom and bathroom - All the kids (and many adults) had a great time at the beach - We caught lots of fish (unlike some other commenters) - We had a great time in the rec room; we enjoyed the pool table and the other toys in the closet - The kitchen was plenty big enough for our group to cook and eat in, with more tables and chairs readily available - The Internet worked well and had no issues - The living area was big enough for all of us to gather (18 of us) - We made use of the volleyball net as well as the canoe. - We took advantage of having two refrigerators (one in the kitchen, and one in the rec room) Here are some things that need work: - The A/C was not able to hold temperature in the building. It was warm in the living areas when it was warm outside (the owner said they are replacing the cooling units over the winter) - The rec room A/C did not work at all. - The kitchen could use more bowls, a high chair or two, and liquid measuring cups. - The outside wooden play truck needs to be repaired or removed. It has several broken features - The bathrooms, while nice, are backlit in front of the mirror and dark in the showers Overall it was great for a large family. There were many things for everyone to enjoy. We had a wonderful time at Lost Branch Lodge.

50th Anniversary celebration
My family celebrated our parent's 50th Anniversary here, & it was absolutely perfect! There was 24 of us, ages 1 -77, & we all enjoyed our time here! The kids were well occupied with swimming, playing in the rec room, space outside to play wiffle ball, etc! The adults joined in with the activities, & yet there's plenty of space to sit & have conversation & drink coffee too! We cooked some delicious food in the well furnished kitchen... everything we needed was there! Plenty of towels, charcoal grill, 2 coffee makers, plus a lot of extras we didn't even use! It rained real hard the first night & so we didn't get to go on the trail & do as many outdoor things, but with the space inside, no one got bored! We also enjoyed blueberries from the blueberry patch across the road! We definitely enjoyed our time & will recommend this lodge to others!
