Broward Center for the Performing Arts

Dine out, watch a show, attend a workshop and enjoy the scenic riverside location of one of South Florida’s premier entertainment venues.

The Broward Center for the Performing Arts (BCPA), the home of the Florida Grand Opera, has long been the driving force behind the Fort Lauderdale’s Riverwalk Arts and Entertainment District. Not only does the venue host music, cabaret, dance shows, films, plays and comedy acts, it also supports other exciting cultural activities and festivals in Fort Lauderdale.

The BCPA has a strong focus on arts-in-education programs for the entire community. Apart from the Florida Grand Opera, it has teamed up with Broadway Across America, the Symphony of the Americas, Miami City Ballet, Gold Coast Jazz and Concert Association of Florida to bring a huge variety of cultural entertainment to South Florida. It also hosts lectures and workshops.

The BCPA also runs Fort Lauderdale’s iconic Parker Playhouse from 1967, the Rose and Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center at the local Nova Southeastern University, and the Miramar Cultural Center and ArtsPark.

Get tickets for a dazzling Broadway show or any other performance you’d like to watch during your stay in Fort Lauderdale. Start your cultural experience with brunch or dinner on the terrace of the venue’s riverside bistro, which offers special arrangements to match the show times. Enjoy the views of the bobbing yachts in the in Sailboat Bend of the New River, with the sleek high-rises of Downtown Fort Lauderdale in the background.

Stroll around the courtyard of the Broward Center before the start of the show. The complex was designed by the architect Benjamin C. Thompson and the theater opened its doors with a memorable performance of Phantom of the Opera in 1991. The venue can seat some 3,700 spectators at once and features the Au-Rene and Amaturo Theaters. Its third hall, the Abdo New River Room, is suitable for banquets and conferences as well as stage shows. The more recent additions to the complex, the Huizenga Pavilion and Rose Miniaci Arts Education Center opened their doors in 2014.

The Broward Center for the Performing Arts is part of the Riverwalk Arts & Entertainment District. Guests can park their cars in the local Arts & Entertainment Parking Garage across the street or in nearby municipal garages.
