Would definitely return
We LOVED this hotel. Definitely our favorite hotel during our 2 week Europe vacation. We loved the furniture (did you know the owner made it?) and charm of the hotel. Also, their breakfast charmed the hell out of me. It felt high quality and well thought out. The owner talked with us in the downstairs bar for at least an hour. The bar was so magical! You just don't see places like that here in the US (midwest, anyway). They also gave us our check out gift (Belgian chocolates!) early since they knew we would be catching the first train out of town.

A nice botique hotel
A nice property with cheerful staff. Absence of an elevator is bothersome if you must schlep a 40 pound suitcase to the 2nd floor. Front desk receptionist was kind enough to carry one of the bags up for us. That 2nd floor is actually the 3rd floor, if you count entering the hotel from the street via 5 or 6 steep stair-steps. WI-Fi worked for me in the reception area, but would not connect in the room on the "2nd" floor. The hotel should add a Wi-Fi access point on that floor or amp up the router range.

Great hotel
Had 4 nights in Bruges. Hotel was very inviting and very well placed for everything. May not have its own parking but underground parking is less than 5 minute walk away and only €8.70 per 24 hours. Fresh continental breakfast everyday, just wish their lovely bar was open more often. We would definitely stay here again.

Hotel is in a good location-close to the sights and in a quite neighborhood. Hotel is currently under renovation, so there was some disruption. The biggest problem with this hotel is lack of service. We had a room without a shower. Once I discovered we didn't have a shower, I went and talk to the owner. She told me there is only one room in our room category with a shower, and the only other room is a family room. She stated over and over again, the family room was more expensive and she was going to lose business if she gave us the room. We were the only people staying at the hotel for the days we were there. Will not stay there again.

Honeymoon in Bruges
This place was in the perfect location of Bruges, everything was within walking distance. The farthest we walked was 20 minutes, but well worth it. The whole town is a fairy tale. A well orchestrated breakfast was provided every morning, it really made you feel like it was catered to your needs. I would certainly stay here again.

Good location. Spacious room. Bed is too soft.No lift to room if you're having trouble with walking up the stairs-take note. Walls are thin and floor creaky. Breakfast is good.

The new owners of this hotel had only taken over 2 weeks ago. They were very pleasant and helpful. The Bathrooms do need some attention, but I am sure this will be sorted in time. The breakfast was excellent with a very good choice. We would stay here again.

Central hotel
This hotel , which is very convenient for the centre, has everything needed for a economical , short stay. The bed and pillows were very comfortable , the room was very clean , plentiful supply of hot water for showere and excellent breakfast. The owner was delightful - very happy to recommend places of interest or book taxis etc. Our only slight issue was the lack of cupboard or shelf space .

Lovely hotel to celebrate 50th wedding anniversary
We had a basic but comfortable room, would have loved one of the beamed rooms, unfortunately we probably booked a little late. A lovely old building with history. Found the owner friendly and helpful and recommended a very good restaurant just round the corner. We would definitely return. Not far from the centre of the city.

Excellent small hotel
Very charming small hotel (only 9 rooms) a short walking distance from the market square and located on a quiet street. Staff is very friendly and helpful with information and recommendations. Breakfast is a very complete continental, and served with fresh fruit salad and freshly squeezed orange juice. As the building dates from the 15th century, the stairs could be challenging for someone with limited mobility (there is no elevator). Rooms on the 2nd floor require 2 steep staircases. Rooms are very comfortable, beds are good, bathrooms complete and clean. We would certainly stay here again if returning to Bruges.

Close to centre, good for short stays
The hotel is perfectly located for accessing the centre of Bruges (5-10 minute walk). This makes it really easy to drop back to your room for anything whenever you are out. It is also only a 20 minute walk from the station. The beds are very comfortable and it is so quiet you can get a good nights sleep. The facilities in the room are quite basic (e.g the tea/coffee making facilities descibed are a kettle, two cups & spoons, 2 tea bags and 2 little milk pots). However, for a short stay this shouldn't be too bothersome. The staff were very friendly on arrival and at breakfast. A really good continental breakfast offered in the room rate, which is a good way to start the day.

Pleasant Hotel for a City Break
This hotel is well located and has wonderfully helpful staff. Our room (2) was at the back of the building and perhaps noisier than others, but the large bed was well appreciated. Breakfast was great. Bruges is a lovely place for a city break and we found it easy to get the coach from Charleroi and walk around the city.

Bruges vacation
Great little hotel. The innkeeper was gracious and wonderful; anxious to give you tips to make your stay more enjoyable. The wifi signal isn't the strongest, and the beds aren't the most comfortable, but the service, the building and the breakfast more than make up for it.

Friendly and welcoming
Apparently, the former home of the son of a past Count of Bruges, who lived in the nearby palace, now also a hotel. The dining room was breath-taking and the breakfast served there was fabulous. The hotel is owner operated and the service was perfect. Our room was part of a new addition so lacked the charm of the rest of the hotel. It was nice and quiet, though. Easy walk to the main square and important venues.

Stairs were a problem, all else good
Staff and location excellent, as was breakfast. Public areas very historic and of a high standard. Room was OK - nothing special. However, two flights of steep stairs to reach it was not good. Thankfully the son of the house took our luggage up and down. We would not have been able to do this ourselves. Had I known of these stairs, I would not have booked this hotel.

Karel de Stoute
We stayed at Hotel Karel de Stoute for a few days away in Bruges. On arrival we were given a friendly greeting and information (marked on a map) about good places to eat and extra places that weren't necessarily obvious on the map. We were impressed by the cleanliness of the room and how spacious it was. The breakfast options were very generous. The only issue was the noise of cars driving past the room late at night, but this was infrequent and only woke me up a couple of times over a four night stay. I would definitely stay here again.

Interesting little B&B in Brigges
Very good, the breakfast was very good but served a bit late (8.30 start). The room was a bit quirky with 2 coat hangers only and little room in the bathroom to put things. No where to hag up the towels. The hosts were very friendly and helpful - bags taken to the room and a chocolate during check in. Stairs wre very steep. Very quiet and in a really good location just a quick walk to Markt. Parking was ok but 5 minutes away so don't forget to take everything you need to the room. Overall very good.

Location is the only plus
we stayed at this hotel based on previous reviews and although the location is perfect, the building is very old and has an odor. The room itself was very old and felt like a room you would find in a grandmothers room. The window screen was broken allowing Mosquitos in. I certainly did not rest properly. Hotel staff were very gracious but I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

It was an enjoyable stay with a fine breakfast served from 8:30 to 10:30 am. Greta was very accomodating and helpful. The only negative aspect of the stay was the condescending lecture I received from Hans, the owner's son, about how people complain about being on the 3rd floor, yet want the cheapest room. I knew there was no lift, stated I'd prefer the least steps possible and was only offered 1 room and 1 price. I did not complain about situation being on the 3rd level and felt quite humiliated by his expression.

A Great Family Business
At first we felt that our room was a little small for the price we paid, but the customer service went above and beyond what we could have expected. The Breakfast selection was very good too. The Owner is super friendly and accommodating. The only thing is that there is no parking at the hotel. There is a nice parking garage about 3 blocks away that allows you to park there 24 hours around the clock for approximately 17 Euro every 24 hours.

A great hotel in a perfect location
A great hotel, set in a quiet neighbourhood just 5 minutes walk to the Bell tower and all the shops. Stayed here with my wife for two nights. The hotel owners (mother and son), couldn't do enough for us, providing maps and business cards for local restaurants etc. We were in a room at the back of the hotel, and would best be described as functional. It was fine for us, as we didn't spend too long during the day in the room. I'm told the rooms in the main house have more character. The breakfast was fantastic with freshly squeezed orange juice and a fruit cocktail as a starter. There was an ample supply of coffee and a buffet of bread, croissants, ham, cheese, jams, cereals etc. We had a drink on the last evening in the cellar/bar. It's just a shame we were the only ones in there as it had a great atmosphere. Overall we would recommend the hotel and would certainly stay there when we next go to Brugge.
