When we first arrived at the inn, we were skeptical about going in from outside appearances as it looked like a storefront building on a side street. But once inside, we met the owner, Mohammed who was inviting, warm and welcoming. As we arrived around 11:30pm at night and were hungry, Mohammed's mother even prepared dinner for us which was eaten on the roof with a spectacular view of the Pyramids which was awesome.
It's not a luxury hotel and the rooms are plain, but the owner and his family substitute for it in personal warmth and make you feel like family. On our first day there, Mohammed took us on a tour to the pyramids and out to lunch. Also helpful was his nephew, Yusef who walked with my sister and I for hours to ensure our safety and to translate which was very endearing. Mohammed's staff were always available if we needed anything. In addition, Mohammed also sets up private tours.
Outside the hotel can be daunting at first as many people come up to you and try to sell you things. But if you see something you like, you buy it and if you don't, you say no thank you and keep walking.
If you want a true Egyptian experience with a down to earth feel, this is the place to be. We will definitely return.
