Disappointing
Our expectations were high of such a well know establishment. We found it first of all very crowded with day visitors everywhere. It was a rainy day and the result is that you can hardly walk to your room as nothing is paved. Our shoes were full of mud on arrival. Bathroom floor way too hot, very uncomfortable. Breakfast terrible. Bread is uncovered from 8 onwards, so if you arrive at 9 it’s all very dry. Fruit so big cut that it’s impossible to eat. Omelet was raw on the inside. Onion cut way too big and raw. We skipped the second nights breakfast and moved on to next destination. We definitely won’t return.

Heaven on earth
Babylonstoren is like heaven on earth. It is so beautiful that you have to pinch yourself every day to make sure that you are not dreaming. The staff are all amazing and they take such pride in the farm and the hotel. All of the food is locally sourced on the farm itself or nearby and the quality and freshness was unbelievable. We were genuinely sad to leave and we promised that we would be back next year. If there is one place where you must stay in South Africa, then that is Babylonstoren - in fact it is probably the finest place we have stayed in our travels all over the world.

the property is a working eco farm to table - amazing gardens, vineyards, fruit orchards, guests treated as house guests and all facilities made available without having to pay xtra. Beautiful rooms and clean, organic food.

Babylonstoren was one of the best experiences we've ever had. The service is exceptional and the surrounding areas breathtaking. We felt immediately relaxed when we arrived. The attention to detail was amazing and very thoughtful, down to his and hers rain boots. Everyone we encountered from the staff were so warm and friendly. This is truly a farm-to-table experience with all the produce served at meals from their own gardens. There is so much to do from garden tours to afternoon drives, that we could have spent a whole week there. We can't wait to go back. Cannot recommend Babylonstoren enough.

A grand experience
Impressive property. Amazing food and breakfast experience. The gardens alone are a destination in itself. Beware that the suites section is closest to the country road (no noise issue at night but slightly as of early morning). The regular rooms are in the back of the property so this would be a more serene spot. I would have preferred feather pillows instead of those bulky synthetic stuffings. Service, interior, etc was excellent. Overall one of the very best experiences I have ever had because of the overall concept. I loves their early morning gardens tour and also the later one for hotel guests which gave it a nice exclusive touch.

This was the best place we stayed in Cape Town, and the Winelands. The lodging was wonderful, the carnivore dinner was spectacular. This was one of the more memorable things we did in our visit to S.A. and made our experience perfect.

Garden, wine, and food heaven
Wow. That’s all that needs to be said about this property. It is absolutely amazing if you’re looking to stay right on a vineyard. Every space was made for photo taking. The Garden? Spectacular. The food? Unbelievable. I wanted to buy everything. Staff were great and courteous and even received special sundowner small dishes in the evening. I wish we had stayed longer. We did all the tours and we definitely recommend them all. The heated pool was so nice after a lovely meal. It really was a small slice of Eden. Cannot wait to return for a longer stay.

Farm to table hotel at its best
Absolutely loved it! The staff there were welcoming, caring and you can feel they love the farm too. Jerome in particular made our stay That much better. The rest babel was amazing, breakfast at the babel was great - must try the herbal teas and the spa was such a treat. Love everything about the hotel and will def come back!

It was absolutely awesome! Excellent, healthy food, 1st class service, very friendly staff. Only one little point they need to take care of and that is the cleaning of the cupboards, a little too much dust for my liking. We will be back, that is for sure.

Helpfull with everything from arrival till departure. 5 star food,accomodation and service. . Quiet and peacefulll. Lovely gardens to walk through. The fruit basket on arrival was to die for. All amenities available on the farm..Breakfast included and spa services. Was not aware of this jewell close to Cape Town. Bit expensive but worth it. Will definately visit this hotel again in the near future.

Perfect stay!
Exceptional stay on a gorgeous farm. The rooms were really well decorated and every detail from fresh herbs for the bath, to fruit and wine from the farm, to free laundry service for your clothing, everything was absolutely perfect. The pool and spa facilities were also fantastic - including a salt room!

So happy we stayed here!
My husband and I stayed here for a couple of nights to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and we loved it! The Cottage Suite was large, luxurious and very comfortable - everything you could want/need in the room - and the minibar was complementary. The staff were extremely friendly and always available to help. And breakfast and dinner at Babel were delicious - all local fruit and vegetables grown on the farm. The wines were delicious as well and would recommend the cellar tour. Such a relaxing place and would return tomorrow if we could!

Peaceful, beautiful. Healthy fresh breakfast. Excellent gift shop, cheese and bakery. Informative garden tour. Absolutely gorgeous with easy access to Winelands. All staff were courteous and helpful A few niggly things... Very slippery floor in second bedroom... Quite dangerous. Poor lighting in second bathroom. Tiny bedside tables proved useless. No electric blankets in second bedroom. No adaptor for hairdryer in second bedroom. Lounge chairs were very uncomfortable. Wood fire was lovely. I would definitely stay here again...here's hoping the interior design is more comfy.

It was incredible staying at Babylonstoren. The service was impeccable and the surroundings stunning. The wine tour was completely lame, and their vegetarian offerings were slim, but other than that, we had the best time there.

My wife and I have stayed at a lot of very wonderful places, but nothing comes close to the dream-like world of Babylonstoren. The staff is unfailingly friendly, the cottages are straight out of a design magazine, and the grounds are like a playground for adults. One of the the days of our stay, we scrapped our plans for other activities in the Winelands and just spent the day at Babylonstoren, climbing the hill to watch the sun rise over the mountains, gathering freshly-layed eggs, gingerly holding the hedgehog, touring the gardens, feeding grass to the donkeys, canoeing on the reservoir, bird watching, and biking to every corner of the vast property. We woke each morning to breakfast in a fantasy greenhouse and enjoyed delicious lunches and dinners in their stylish Babel restaurant and cozy pizza kitchen. This place is truly magical!

Interesting place. In a working farm. Two bottles of their wine was included in the room charge. The major drawback to our stay was the mantle of the fireplace caught fire. What a bad design. I had noticed that this had happened before and tried to keep the fire small. I guess it wasn't because at 4AM I woke to a smoke filled room. I hope they change the design of the fireplaces because this was a hazard. Breakfast was wonderful. Everything about this place is wonderful except the fireplace design.

Lovely service, romantic location and property!
Amazing stay! We travel a lot and after our stay my husband said this was probably the best hotel we have stayed in together- and there have been hundreds! The service was exceptional, all staff unfailingly friendly. We were traveling with our 9 month old baby who was a bit sick and quite fussy during our stay there. The staff at breakfast made sure they took him away for a bit after he had eaten so we could finish our breakfast in peace. We had a splendid tour of the gardens. The spa was exquisite. We bought some bread from the bakery which was lovely, and were even treated to a free loaf as we were buying just as the shop was closing one of the days. The only thing that didnt match up to everything else was the dinner at their restaurant, Babel. We appreciate the effort to use ingredients grown at the farm, but this meant the menu was less exciting than it could be. MY husband was only offered pork belly- which he isnt fond of, and as a vegetarian I had a main course of cauliflower cheese which isnt exciting either. Despite this we would give this stay five stars and definitely recommend it.

One of the loveliest places ever
One of the loveliest places I have ever stayed. The cottage was beautiful, the gardens, even in winter were fabulous and the guest services perfect. I loved being greeted in our room with two bottles of special wine!

Amazing respite in a beautiful environment
I spent a wonderful 24 hours at Babylonstoren and despite it being off season, I thoroughly enjoyed the beauty of the environment, the amazing gardens, the spacious and well designed room, the friendly staff and the delicious food. Highly recommended.

Awesome in the true sense, some awe in everything. From design to service to creature comforts...what a brilliant celebration of life. Loved the extra li'l touches like complimentary bubbles and fresh flowers from the garden for our anniversary, plus the relaxed vibe about treats in fridge/good n proper coffee/wine included in room rate unlike other luxury hotels that rip you off.

Loved our stay. Lunch menu looked fantastic,but in evening there is a set meal with no choice,though they will adapt dishes if needed.Enjoyed tour of fantastic garden and walks in the beautiful grounds.

We primarily wanted to go to Babylonstoren for their amazing restaurant BABEL (more on that later), but decided to stay a night here and what a great decision that turned out to be! Babylonstoren is one of those special places that you wish to keep to yourself -because it feels like your own private farm where you are free to do as you please. Everything was just perfect in our recent stay - from the moment we were greeted at the parking area by the nice staff to take our luggage right to our cottage - no need to go to reception to checkin. The cottage was absolutely perfect (right down to the outside showers!) with everything you might need taken care of for you. Me and my wife explored the farm and vineyards on their complementary bikes and even went canoeing in their dam, checked out the vegetable and fruit farms and garden all pretty much to ourselves - it felt private and intimate. Its amazing how the staff can seem invisible yet there for you when you need anything at all. Whatever you do, dont miss dining at their amazing restaurant BABEL. Its a stunning space - but the food is even more beautiful, and tastes even better than it looks. While the 'farm to table' movement is pretty trendy in New York right now, this is *true* farm to table food - fresh off their gardens and farm! Absolute gem! Bottom line - this place is more than worth every penny. We cant wait to return!!!

we had only one night in this little paradise. I miss it already. Make sure to take the tour of the garden it is so inspiring. this place is a dream come true . we did not have diner at Babel but the breakfast was the best ever so I can only imagine diner. I will recommend this place to everyone travelling to beautiful South Africa

Beautiful place and amazing landscape. The only thing that disappointed us was the fact that we told the staff that we were vegans (considering the breakfasf and dinner) and they told us that they had a lot of options but they unfortunately did not have that when we arrived, kind of boring due to the price we paid for our stay. Otherwise lovely place!
