Hi Brid, Im glad that you enjoyed your stay here and thank you for taking the time to review us, however one thing puzzles me is the breakfast, I understand you paid extra, could you just clarify if a website charged you for this? Our breakfast is continental with boiled eggs mainly because we serve it a 5h30am for the workers. Its not feasible to provide a cooked at this hour. We don't charge for breakfast and we don't intend on doing so. I'm just letting you know for your self in case that you have been charged for something that you shouldnt have been! Hopefully see you back in Fernhill Again in the not too distant future!

Dear Mr Osborne, I must say that I am disappointed to see this review especially since we spoke with each other so recently by telephone regarding your experience at Fernhill Lodge. Upon arrival you were immediately disgruntled that we didn't have an elevator. I asked you if you would prefer a room on the ground floor to which you replied that you didn't. Our porter carried your bags to your room. I showed you our menu for the evening to which you responded, “is that it???” I explained that all of our food is freshly prepared and cooked to order by a top chef for residents of the Lodge with five food choices and that the menu changes daily. You seemed happy that we operate a full Pizza menu which are also freshly made and cooked in our stone- based oven to complement our evening menu. You asked me if food could be added as a room charge and I said that it could. You added that you would like the bill to be split to show drinks on one and food on another, I said no problem. Later in the restaurant you complained about there being no Guinness on tap and that the type of fish we had wasn’t to your liking even though said fish was on the same earlier menu. Our bar is a small residents bar and we don’t advertise it as anything other than that. We gave you a complimentary drink and helped you source alternative accommodation. You called us the following day to ask if we had charged you and I said “No” - to which you replied “ Oh I’m surprised about that because hotel managers always say they won’t charge me when I’m leaving but always do”. We are not a ‘luxury hotel’ nor do we pretend to be. We are an accommodation provider who caters predominately to people working on various projects in the surrounding area and we have been told by many that we are a ‘home away from home’ for them.

Hi Marina, thank you for your feedback. We did tell you that there was a complimentary breakfast at check in and that it was continental. You didn't mention that we also have hard boiled eggs, yoghurts, soda bread and scones also. I'm not sure what time you checked in but we do have a dinner menu which is freshly prepared however this finishes at 8.30pm and after this time we offer a pizza menu only. Your stay co-incided in our busiest weekend in Cork and you got the last room available, I know the view wasn't the best but it was all that we had available. The reason that 'the place' looks run down is because you weren't at the actual hotel. You went to the wrong place, had you phoned us we could have directed you to the hotel - you were at the old golf club which is parallel to the hotel which is behind the trees. I have explained this to Expedia, did they not call you to discuss?
