Fabulous stay
Fab 2 nights in clean, modernised hotel overlooking the main square. Our host, Maurice, is such a gentleman! Very friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. Our breakfast was included and each morning we were presented with a different menu consisting of fresh orange juice, coffee as requested, cereal with fresh fruit and yoghurt, a main course and little pastry to finish and all served on the lovely roof terrace which also had an honesty bar, which we made use of in the evening. The complimentary local wine and almonds in the room was so thoughtful. Loved our stay and Competa is beautiful and everyone so friendly.

Fantastic location, with a modern clean look
We couldn't have asked for a better Hosts, friendly and helpful. Our room was fresh and modern. And the location couldn't have been better, right in the centre overlooking the plaza and church. I would recommend it to anyone of our friends who are visiting Competa, a beautiful white hillside village.

Magical experience
The residence is just above the main square and from the terrace has fantastic views of the town and countryside. The breakfast is served on the terrace and it’s a joy to eat in such an ambience. When I was there the swifts were rushing around the town; great to see. The superb breakfast introduced me to things I hadn’t tried before and enhanced the experience overall. Highly recommended.

We stayed 2 nights under 2 separate bookings (the second added after a change in our plans). Please see my review for the first night's stay - I can't say enough good things about the Almijara Residence and the service we received from Maurice .

As others have said - exceptional!
One of the best places we have ever stayed! Everything is so well considered and the service is second to none. From the efficient check-in, carrying our bags to the room, the complimentary little carafe of sweet local wine (topped up daily) with accompanying almonds, a quick appraisal of the local area with restaurant recommendations and suggested walks, the fantastic rooftop bar and terrace area complete with honesty box that looks across the central plaza to the church, the fantastic and very different breakfasts served up fresh each morning on the roof, the fabulous decoration and design (quite modern and minimalist but with flashes of colour and pieces that reflect Maurice's homeland), having Netflix available in the room (not that we needed it), to the engaging conversations we had with Maurice - we had a truly lovely time and could not fault anything! The guys have really put a lot of effort into considering how best their guests might enjoy their stay and they've done a fantastic job! If you're ever considering a stay in Cómpeta you should seriously consider staying at the Almijara Residence! Thank you Maurice for such a lovely stay.

3 totally wonderful nights at Almijara. The owners are available for questions and incredibly helpful. Great location on the plaza makes this a fantastic home base. The breakfasts on the terrace are fantastic.

If you desire a lovely stay in a lovely small village in Andalusia, Spain,, look no further than Almijara Residence in Competa. Paul and Maurice are the consummate owners and hosts of this small boutique hotel, and they have taken care of all the details. From giving excellent directions to the hotel and suggestions for hikes and activities in the area to making some of the best breakfasts we had on our trip, these two can’t be beat. They are welcoming, friendly, kind and talented. Don’t hesitate to book at Almijara Residence.

The property was brilliant. My holiday was a disaster as Aer Lingus lost my bag and I had to come back early on 4th of Sept. My bag turned up at my home at lunchtime on Sat 7th Sept. Can you help me with this !!

It's quirky ,centrally located ,has honesty bar, it is friendly and relaxed ,An amazing place to chat to other guests on roof terrace overlooking the square. The breakfasts are AMAZING .You will NOT get a breakfast like this anywhere !!!! Maurice is a genius ! And the hosts Paul and Maurice are the nicest couple EVER .If you enjoy good conversation,these are your guys .They made our mini break and gave us good recommendations of what to explore ,where to eat etc. Go and see for yourself .Ten out of ten isn't enough !

Wonderful intimate hotel in the main plaza of Competa. Great room and facilities, lovely roof terrace to relax in, and super friendly & helpful host Paul. We will definitely be coming back!

My highest possible recommendation.
I usually do not submit reviews for my stays. The reviews generally give good descriptions I find. But in this case I must say I had an exceptional experience. The Almijara Residence is on of the best overnight stay experiences I've had. It definitely ticked all my personal boxes. Graham and Roza were very open and welcoming. They put forth the effort to personally ensure a good stay for myself. The calibre of the building were top notch, far exceeding expectations for a reasonable price. Great architecture, room quality, small touches, and roof terrace. I slept very well on the comfortable beds, enjoying two of the rooms. I think there are only 6 or 8 rooms, so there is a real focus on each room and to the individual guest. The food quality breakfast was the best I've experienced in a B&B with the view from the roof terrace at the main square and the mountains adding to it. A nice touch is a social hour in the evening where one can meet with the owners and other guests for a free drink. The location is ideal, as mentioned right on the main square, a lively area throughout the year, with a range of restaurants to my interests nearby. I would not hesitate to stay there again and could not recommend it more highly. Graham and Roza have built an intriguing place to stay in a very enjoyable mountain village.

Centralt läge i mysig by. Incheckningsproceduren omständig. Sängen liten men skön. Rummet rent och fräscht men iskallt. Rummet saknade fönster vilket inte framgick. Mer bumkerkänsla som inte motsvarade 3,5 stjärnigt hotell trots gratis netflix. Trevlig takterrass med fin utsikt. Baren help your self vilket var mycket trevligt. Frukosten var god men sparsam och näringsfattig. Ingen frukt, inga grönsaker eller långsamma kolhydrater. Ingen mat för oss som vandrar.

Nydelig lite hotel midt i senter av Competa, spesiell nydelig frokost servert av de gjestfrie og vennlige eierne. Flott selvbetjent bar på hotellets tak med panoramautsikt. Anbefales på det sterkeste.

Super accueil de Maurice et Paul dans un hôtel très bien tenu avec un roof top à couper le souffle sur la place du village de Competa. A noter le petit déjeuner fait maison et renouvelé tous les jours, un délice! Cadre bucolique au calme dans une magnifique région nous recommandons fortement.

Det var usedvanlig vennlig mottagelse fra de to eierne, Paul og Maurice. De var svært hjelpsomme med alt, hentet bagasjen fra parkeringsplass 300 meter unna hotellet, anbefalte gode restauranter, og fulgte oss faktisk helt frem til inngangen for å være sikre på at vi ikke rotet oss bort. Frokostene var fantastiske, med nydelige retter som de forandret fra dag til dag. Vi har aldri noe sted fått noe lignende. På rommet sto det hver dag en liten flaske med deilig vin og en skål med mandler. På en litt kjølig kveld banket de på døra og overrasket oss med gløgg. En spesiell ting var at det på takterrassen var hva de kalte "Honesty bar", hvor det var selvbetjening og man bare noterte hva man forsynte seg med. Makan til tillit! Stedet anbefales på det varmeste.
