First off, we found in the details of the listing that nether bed linen nor towels were provided and couldn't get a response from the host if that was true. When we got there, we found the usual bottom sheet and top comforter, same as everywhere else we went in Ireland. There were two suitable towels in the bathroom, but the shower itself was out of order because it had just been regrouted.
It's sort of like staying with relatives in a rambling old house. It seems very big inside, and well decorated with antiques that all appear to have been there for decades.
It wasn't really as quiet as you might expect. There was a loud TV on when we got there and I had to call the host by telephone to get him to come out and check us in. Then when we tried to sleep, television was audible from some where else on the property.
There was a wifi outlet in the room but I neglected to ask for the password and didn't want to call the host on the phone again to ask.
I did see a bug in the room when I put my bags down by the fireplace but it didn't bother me.
The sink in the bathroom had hair in the drain, but neither it nor the room really seemed dirty, just worn.
Good breakfast the next morning, cooked to order.
The house cat was unfriendly.
I think it's a good value for the price and the while the location is sort of out of the way, it was in a good place for us during our drive back to Dublin.
