Pros: Clean, polite & helpful staff especially the lovely lady on reception who is very helpful,wonderful views from my sea view room, good sized room, overall good value for money. Cons: the hotel restaurant is very expensive & the food quality average. Far from the centre of Funchal but a shuttle bus provided & there is a public bus stop outside the hotel entrance which takes you into Funchal. There are no restaurants or shops in the local vicinity you can walk to.

It was a short visit. Therefore, i did not get to use all facilities, like, the 'swimming pool'. Staff were very helpful at the cafetaria and reception. They spoke english. I will surely recommend.

The staff was excellent especially Luis!, Thelma and Veronica at the front desk . Water in the room is the only suggestion and perhaps a few more shuttle times during the day if guests request.

Beautiful view, relaxed vibe
We enjoyed staying here very much. The hotel has a gorgeous view over the ocean and Funchal. There is an amazing terrace with garden and pool which was fantastic. The staff was super friendly. The restaurant food options are limited for vegetarians but the salads, fish and pasta were great. Only downside was that there is no gym, toiletry products are limited (shampoo and shower gel in one; no conditioner) and the hotel is located on a little street so you can hear an occasional car or bike driving past. We had their newly renovated rooms which were very comfortable. Super comfortable bed. All over wonderful stay!

Very satisfied with our stay
Very comfortable hotel with beautiful view. The hotel has a rooftop pool and bar with breathtaking scenery. We stayed for 7 days and will return. It was very convenient - you can either take the hotel’s free shuttle bus to Town centre and back, or take any other buses right in front of the hotel. Food was good- hot and continental breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausages and mushroom, ham, salads, cakes, juices variety of choices. Only problem for me was that the coffee was not so good - not hot enough. The restaurant next to the hotel serves local cuisine which was very good and inexpensive. We had dinner several nights there, enjoyed the food and the service. Bed was comfortable, shower was good. Room was very clean and strong WiFi most of the time. Overall it’s an excellent hotel.

Nice hotel for the price
Good value for money. About 10 minutes drive from Funchal, they also offer a free shuttle. Breakfast had a excellent variety. Bed was two wins pushed together which was the only let down as you had to sleep on separate sides.

Views over Funchal are wonderful
Stayed for 10 nights and had a lovely time. Rooms are comfortable and the view from the balcony is outstanding. Only ate at the restaurant a couple of times but it was of a very good standard. Buffet breakfast was really nice, fresh fruit, cooked options and various breads etc lots to choose from. Only slight reservation was that it was not really possible to walk safely on the roads near the hotel but the is local bus service just outside which runs at least hourly. We had a slight hiccup when we arrived as we were allocated a rood near where there is currently a lot of building work on the third floor and an extension being built next door which was very noisy. We asked to move to the other side of the hotel and reception staff were really helpful and accommodating. Excellent choice for us

We had a lovely welcome,the view from the hotel was very beautiful.the facilities in the room very limited and service was slow and little pricey.there is a public/hotel transport but runs limited service otherwise we had a great time.

Lovely hotel
The room was lovely and had a great balcony with a sea view. The breakfast each day had a great selection of hot and cold options. The free bus to Funchal was handy and the attached restaurant serves a good selection of food and provided some local entertainment one night which was fun. The view from the bar and restaurant was stunning and great for viewing sunsets. The pool was a little cold but it was November! All of the staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

The view from my room was magnificent! Beautiful hotel lovely views and comfortable surroundings. The only negetive was the food it was not very good, lacking in flavour with poor presentation which was a shame as everything else about the hotel was excellent! The waiters in the restaurant were courteous and very friendly just the food was disappointing!

Good hotel on a cliff top
Arrived late evening due to late landing due to poor weather. Hotel is close to the airport and easy to get to from the airport with a hire car. Room was quite spacious and clean. We ate at the restaurant downstairs which had a good choice, although a little pricey. Breath-taking ocean view from the balcony. Courtesy mini-bus are provided to Funchal twice or three times a day to return at around 3, 5 and 5:30 pm, which means that you can't have a restaurant meal in Funchal unless you want to use public buses back to the hotel. These are cheap and stop right outside of the hotel. Roof top garden is great and it has an outside pool, but too cold for our trip in April. Our return flight was later in the evening, but we are glad to have a hire car as they could not or would not let us keep the room ((contrary to what other reviewers said) until we left for the airport in the late afternoon.

Amazing weekend break
Fantastic hotel located near the ocean. The View was breathtaking, it was amazing to wake up to each morning. Hotel was very clean and staff were very helpful including the restaurant staff. Centre of funchal is easy to get to via bus which stops right outside the hotel. Would definitely come back again

Lovely hotel up a cliff
A very pleasant hotel which is some distance out of the centre of town.Up a long, winding and steep roadway it provides beautiful views of the sea and Funchal city centre. The bed was very comfortable and the room spacious and very clean.A courtesy bus runs to and from the city centre twice daily and there is a public transport bus stop outside the hotel.

Very nice Hotel
Very nice hotel but you really need a car as it is a little way out of town. It is on a local bus route and the hotel runs a mini bus to and from Funchal but the latest returns at 5.30 pm no time to get an evening meal. The rooms & balconies are a bit noisy due to passing road traffic. My only complaint a broken shower head, it was reported but still broken 24 hours later even thought an maintenance guy had looked at it! Fixed it myself in the end. Putting that aside it is a very pleasant hotel and I would stay again provided we could stay at the price we paid it The online booking cost increased considerably a couple of days after our booking. Overall rating: Very Good!

Absolutely Brilliant
My wife and I visited Madeira to see where her family originated and we couldn't have chosen a better hotel to stay at. It may not be central Funchal but that is a part of the attraction. It is very easy to get to central Funchal - free courtesy bus, a €2 bus ride or a €7 taxi - from the hotel. But the view from the hotel of Funchal and surrounds is just awesome. The staff went over and above what you would hope for and we will forever be grateful for their hospitality. The outstanding hospitality we were afforded was what made our stay the memorable experience that it was. Great bar, restaurant, pool, staff, room etc etc. I would happily rate it as the best hotel I have ever stayed.

Great out of town hotel. Lovely relaxing
We loved this hotel mainly for the fact that even though we went during August there was no mad rush for sunbeds. The atmosphere during our week holiday was very chilled and relaxing. We even managed to get sunbeds without a problem in the afternoon. We found this hotel to be very clean and even though it is out of town this wasnt a problem at all as there is a free courtesy bus 6 days per week (not Sundays) I dont think the walk into town would have been very safe as most of the way doesnt have a pavement. The staff were all lovely and very helpful. We had a sea view room which also had a fantastic view up the hills and down into Funchal centre. We would definately go back to this hotel.

Lovely hotel
Lovely hotel located in the hill so aboveFunchal, with stunning views of the city and bay below. Rooms, grounds and pool area kept immaculate, staff only to willing to help and answer any query. Lovely rooms with sea views, polished wooden floors, flat screen tv. Wifi in all rooms and a well equipped bathroom with a powerful shower. Free shuttle into the city or a service bus from the car park entrance.

Lovely hotel, impeccably presented, stunning views
Lovely hotel / restaurant where ALL staff were fantastic, all of whom could not do enough for you. The rooms were well presented and clean and ALL of them have sea views. Gardens and pool area (although we did not use due to time constraints and the weather) were also beautifully presented. Good choice and plenty of food in the adjoining restaurant, even for me as a vegetarian. Staff here too were excellent and they, as in the hotel, all spoke at least three languages fluently so communicating was never a problem. Whist the hotel is not in the centre of Funchal (why we chose it) it is easy to get around, bus service right outside that runs until at least 9.30 PM so you can eat in Funchal if you want, FREE hotel shuttle twice a day, you can hire a car or get a taxi. There are also lots of companies that offer excursions, all of whom will pick up from the hotel. The ONLY downside for us was a little traffic noise during the day but being as the hotel is on a hill and on a bend in the road I guess that was to be expected. However this would not deter me from staying again.

Everything was great, would go again. Only one thing that was not ideal was that there was nothing closeby ie places to eat, shops etc,it was a 10 minute bus ride/shuttle away.
