A good starting point for walks. The Sentinel room was nice with a good outlook to the mountains. The food in the restaurant was not really special. We wifi in the Sentinel room was very poor.

The bed had bugs. The sheets were not clean. The bathroom floor had tufts of hair everywhere. The restaurant hardly had food. Each time we chose a meal we were told that it wasn't available.

Fantastic views, and the best place to start the hike to Tugela Falls. Very quiet. The only sounds at night were the sounds of the horses eating grass. Excellent breakfast. The road to the property is paved, but the road from there to Sentinel Carpark is definitely a rock crawl and best left to a transfer by the lodge. Note that there’s a fee to get to the property (save your receipt for the way out as they ask for it). There is also the transfer fee and hiking fee. Also, the queen size bed is German style (2 mattresses shoved together, each with separate bedding).

Very unique place to stay if you are hiking in the area. Our stay was very brief, arriving on one night and checking out and hiking the next day. The staff was great, assisting with transportation and packing a lunch since we would be missing breakfast. The room was very comfortable sized. Would recommend a side with a view of the mountains if you are staying a bit!

Absolutely fabulous place
Agnes at check-in was kind and friendly. Another staff member came through and gave us some advice on our hike. The 4 x 4 trip return was with kind , informative drivers, Mr. Goodwin, I don't recall the gentleman that drove us back. He taught us things about the Drakensburg and Maluti Mountains that we didn't know. Eddie at the Sentinel parking was a gem. I absolutely loved our stay. Clean rooms, bedding and toilet/shower facilities. Thank you and all the best to you all always

Charming mountain lodge. The rooms are a little spare, but fine for the purpose of our stay. Clean. The restaurant and bar were excellent. Staff friendly and eager to please. Would stay there again.

Witsieshoek was a great weekend getaway, with stunning views from each room. Unfortunately, we got stormed out and did not have the time to wait around to go on any hiking trails. As a result, we were stuck around the property, which in itself is beautiful, however it does not have functioning wifi in the rooms (or tvs), which made the stay a bit bland. Of course, had the weather been nice, a lack of wifi or tv would not have been of any concern, but I do think the lack of functioning wifi is a deterrent to many people.

Impressed with the reception staff who were tremendous. Always willing to go the extra mile to help. Example I was a day late because of having an upset stomach and I expected to have the 90% charge in these situations. The receptionist went the extra mile and spoke with the owner and the charge was waved. That is the type genuine down to earth people working here. They do everything possible to make your stay a happy one. They can't provide everything a town hotel might provide because they are situated high up an isolated mountain. But they do their best and more than make up for any lack by homeliness, a warm smile and a genuine concern for the welfare and comfort of their guests. A very enjoyable stay. My only regret was that I did not have the time to stay longer. very well done to all the staff at this value for money and convenient lodge situated with amazing views when ithe weather is fine and a bundle of laughs and great hospitality when the weather is foggy or wet. this is a real mountain lodge on a gloriously beautiful mountain. Well done all at Wisiehoek Mountain Lodge. Very impressed.

Great starting point to hike on the Sentinel Peak trail. My family enjoyed the breakfast. We drove up the road to the parking lot at the trail head. There are some big rocks on the road, but you can make it with out 4 wheel drive easily in the dry season.

Wonderful place to stay for he amphitheater hike - just be aware the shuttle to trailhead has limited space, so sign up as soon as you arrive (unless you have a 4x4 and don't require the shuttle). We enjoyed the food and service at the restaurant, and the bar/lounge area is a great place to relax after exploring the area.

Magnificent Mountain Views
A wonderfully situated lodge with magnificent mountain views, great walks and friendly/helpful staff. Hosts are however dismissive and unapproachable. Our stay was nevertheless a memorable one!

Amazing place, correct food, however disappointed by the Sentinel Peak trail. Given the expensive fee charged to access it, proper marking and information from attendants would be the mimimum expected. Fading paint marks make you have the very unpleasant impression of having lost your way!

It seems like all the rooms have now been refurbished and to a very good standard. The bed was huge and very high quality. The restaurant has a wonderful huge bay window with fantastic views. (eat early or late so you get a table at the window). The food was extremely high quality, with about 6 or 8 mains to choose from. There were hot options for breakfast too. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Try to stay for at least 3 days. The sentinel hike is the big pull. But I suffer from virtego so found several less cliff edge walks which were much more to my liking .

Beautiful Mountain Retreat
Witsieshoek Lodge is definitely off the beaten path, but it's a good thing. The road to the lodge past town only leads there and to the hiking trails for The Sentinel and the Ampitheater. The lodge itself has nice rooms and a good diner / bar, but the best part is the amazing views and the proximity to some great hiking. This place is definitely a great starting/ending point for the nearby hikes, and it's in excellent condition. Wifi isn't the best, but there were places around the lodge where you could find 3G/4G.

The Mountain Lodge is wonderful. The location is fantastic. Tucked away near the top of the Drakensberg Mountain Range and a short hike to the Tugela Falls (second highest waterfall in the world). The views from the resort are breathtaking. You can tell service is important because all the staff are very kind and welcoming. The accommodations are comfortable with a wonderful, large, bed - with enough blankets and space heater to keep you warm. The food is not great. There are very few vegetarian options and most dishes lack flavor. The lamb dish and the chicken pie were both better options. Internet is spotty and the power often goes out at the lodge. I think this adds to the character of the place and it did not detract for me overall, but I could see how it would for some. The price is very reasonable for the accommodation, but there are a lot of separate fees for the resort that can add up - just be mindful of that. I would strongly recommend staying here. The views and the proximity to an amazing hike of Tugela Falls more than make up for the small short comings it has.

The staff at Witsieshoek was great. They truly care about the guests and ready to serve with a smile and rare authentic hospitality. We stayed in the hiker's cabin and it was exactly what we needed as a base for our hiking trips. Very good food at the restaurant as well.

Tugela Fallsへの登山目的で利用しました。 宿泊前からメッセージにて丁寧なご案内があり、相談にも乗って下さりました。また当日も、当方は片言の英語でしたがレセプションの方には熱心に相談に乗っていただけたのがとても助かりました。ロケーションは山の尾根上にあるため周囲には絶景が広がっていて抜群。その絶景を眺めながらの夕食も美味しく素晴らしかったです。朝一のシャトルを予約してであげるTugela Fallへと向かいましたが、登山用のお弁当セットも用意して下さり、滝を眺めながら食べたサンドイッチが格別でした。
