Lovely location. Well appointed house
Stayed here with my husband and two teens for a 2 night stay.. House was small but cosy and we were glad the heating was on when we arrived as weather was awful!. House is well equipped for a self-catering holiday; we did not cook much but there seemed to be plenty of utensils /pots and pans etc. Also very pleased to see more than 4 of each piece of cutlery /crockery (a pet-peeve is when places for four people only have 4 forks /plates etc -you need those extras!!!) Great location for beach walks /trips to Aberdeen /other towns. Easy to get to from A92. I would say the house could do with a bit of a freshen up - it's nicely furnished etc but starting to look a bit 'rough around the edges'. That said I would return even as it is. A lovely short break!

Beautiful Little Seaside Holiday Home
We frequent Johnshaven regularly and this is our first stay at this property. A beautiful cosy wee house by the seaside with everything you need for your stay and an enclosed garden safe for children and pets to roam around . I put 4* for the cleanliness not because the property wasn't up to standard, it was , but the few pots and cooking utensils hadn't been cleaned properly, I assume by previous guests, and put back in the cupboard dirty. It's in the property description that guests should do certain basic household chores which is a great idea to keep the service/ cleaning fee down . In summary, we highly recommend staying at this lovely house

Cosy property, nice to come home to but within easy driving distance of cities, towns, villages and the coast. Beautiful walks from the doorstep and plenty of exploring around Johnshaven itself, where everyone is very friendly and welcoming. Alan, who lives next door and cares for the property, is very helpful, friendly and discreet. We liked the large Smart TV in the living room and another in the bedroom and the WiFi worked perfectly. Plenty of hot water on tap. All in all a very pleasant stay!

Quaint little cottage in a friendly little village
Absolutely loved our stay. We loved everything from the cottage to the village to the locals. The cottage was ideal for our small group including a dog. It had everything we needed, although we didn't make use of it all. The fire was set up ready to burn. Tea and coffee on the table. The garden was a sun trap. We met 3 neighbours, including Alan of course, who was very helpful. Everyone we passed said Hello. We didn't visit the pub, unfortunately, but only because we were out and about and sat in the garden at night to make the most of the lovely weather. The shop was little but we'll stocked with everything you need plus more. Basically, we would return in a second. My only regret is we couldn't stay longer. Thank you to the host, Nathalie, for a wonderful, refreshing and homely stay.

Beautiful village
Property a little disorganised and looked tired. Bedding needs replacing, no covers on pillows and mattress- all of which were quite old. A little bit of attention to small thing like bedding and reorganising cupboards etc would help improve score. Also a note stating that garden is not attached to cottage but simply a path between would help for pet owners.

Peaceful stay in Johnshaven
We had a 4 night break here in June and the house couldn’t have been in a better location. A minute from the hotel, shop and harbour. Great food at the hotel and along the harbour the lobster shop for great seafood.Never been to Johnshaven before but it’s the nicest village in the area. Would definitely return to Johnshaven and this property.

Post-Christmas break
We spent three nights in this cosy and well-equipped cottage just after Christmas. It was the perfect base for re-discovering an area I hadn't visited for many years, particularly the fabulous beach at St Cyrus. The cottage is very clean and comfortable. The photographs don't really do it justice! We had a lovely time and would definitely stay again.

6 Harbour Place..
I’ve stayed here before,..last year..perfectly adequate, reasonably quiet..only niggle is the fact the fire was not set,nor is there ever a stock of kindling/logs to get it started. One has to go to the local shop and purchase them..it’s the last thing one wants to be doing on a wet afternoon,on arrival,(the electric storage heating is not the best !!!).I have never experienced this in any other holiday cottage I’ve been to...however apart from that,it suits my purpose as I take my dog with me and the secure garden is a bonus.

Cosy cottage
We really enjoyed our stay in the cosy cottage. The neighbours are lovely and very helpful. There was no kindling or wood for the open fireplace, but the village shop sells them in bags. Johnshaven is very picturesque and the Pubs are fun. A great place for a relaxing holiday.

Relaxing short break at peaceful fishing village
Beautiful well equipped cottage with a lovely garden , ideal for the dogs. The cottage was well located for walks in the area, The Anchor Pub which served great meals and the local shop. Bed comfy and it had a great shower. Would definitely go back again. Alan, next door, who looks after the cottage , was very amiable , informative and chatty. Thank you Nathalie for a lovely stay.

Pleasant short stay
Our experience was let down by the fact that we could not get in! Three hours and many phone calls later, we established that where the key was, but this was after the owner hung up the phone on us. Bed was comfortable. Sitting room seating was sadly not. No lamps, so only option was ceiling lighting. Johnshaven is lovely, but the property is not facing the harbour. The pub in the village is excellent, which is dog friendly. We enjoyed our stay but wouldn’t return.

Cosy wee cottage
A lovely cottage in the centre of the village, local store and hotel just a few metres away. Just a few steps brings you to the harbour and indeed you can see the sea from the bedroom windows. It was well equipped with just about everything you would need. The only things we would fault were the sofa and double bed, both were very hard and not very comfortable.

Lovely cottage, great location
Lovely cottage in a beautiful location. Very clean well equipped quaint place to stay. A real open fire was lovely. Only 2 small negatives - the sofa was dreadful and very uncomfortable, very similar to a park bench and the double bed was very low, felt like I was sleeping on just the mattress. That said I would stay here again. Very good value.

Great weekend away in a lovely part of scotland
We had a great weekend staying in johnshaven. It's a perfect location to get out and see some beautiful parts of scotland.. Cyrus beach, dunnottar castle, stonehaven etc... the cottage was perfect, very well equipped and cosy with the fire on at night. Food at the harbour inn was fantastic and johnshaven is a lovely little fishing village. Everyone we met was very friendly. All in all a great weekend away. Big thanks to Alan for giving us access to the house and being so friendly upon our arrival. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area.

A perfect and cosy peaceful retreat
The property was very well presented, the neighbours (and the local community) were very helpful and welcoming. The food in 'The Anchor' was amazing. The coastal walks were fabulous, and the pub & chippie in Gourdon (on the coastal walk on to Inverbervie) were great, and the amazing Dunnottar Castle was well worth a look...very game of thrones! My wife was intending to book a mini break to the borders, so this was a very fortunate and 'happy accident' A wonderful part of the country and a wonderful place to stay and enjoy it.
