Amazing little find
Amazing hotel, clean and safe with good access to the Metro. There is a police station opposite however this did not disturb me at night

This is an ideal location, very walkable, and the hotel is a great price. In addition, the hotel staff were very friendly, spoke English, and were also happy to speak French with me.

well priced and well looked after
We enjoyed our stay. It is a typical old style French hotel with small rooms and bathrooms and lifts squeezed in. The area is outside the usual for tourists but not far from Los Gobelins where we have stayed before. I would decribe it as 'mixed' but it's a pretty walk in through the back streets to the Sorbonne area. The hotel staff were vey welcoming and breakfast was excellent but we were there when it was very hot and steamy and not having air conditioning knocked down some of our marks. If you want a well priced hotel within walking/metro distance of the central sites you could do a lot worse.

Everything was great. Super friendly staff and very clean. No mini fridge and you could quite easily hear the hallway would be the only low points.

Good hotel wrong location.
The staff are very freindly and the rooms are in good condition and clean. On the down side I had to open the shower door so I could sit on the toilet as there was only about 9inch between the tiolet and the shower. The location of the hotel is not good for sightseeing, either expect to walk 8 miles per day or spend about €10 per person on travel.

This hotel is in Paris, if you only need a clean bed and a shower and feel secure, the basics. Plenty of restaurants and supermarket, bakery near by. Metro is only 2 blocks from hotel. Plan to do your travel around town by Metro, very easy to used. Used metro from airport, is plenty of help if you don't speak French (Maps, etc.) cheaper that way. Paris can be pricey. The hotel offer pay breakfast, no a/c. We enjoy our stay.

Recently renovated interior. Close to Place d'Italie (three metro lines). Many affordable restaurants nearby, especially if you like Chinese and Vietnamese food. Pleasant staff.

It was my first time in Paris so i booked this hotel near the pick up point for my italy bus tour for the following day. They gave me a street view room but unfortunately the view i have was a high rise building construction. The room is clean but the flooring is old so you can hear loud noise when you walk. The hotel stairs and hallway was also dark and unpleasing. but the good side was the hotel is within reasonable price and walking distance to metro and good resto and cafe. Mcdonalds and KFC is just few minutes walk too.

Value for money!
Staff were very friendly, room was adequate since it's only for sleeping. Location wise was perfect, close to Place d'Italie and Campo Formio metro, and several food places nearby.

An enjoyable stay at Ecrivains
Really enjoyed our stay here, well connected to transport links both metro and buses. A compact and comfortable room with pleasant and helpful staff. A good night out was in the Latin quarter which was a short hop away (2-3 bus stops) with plenty of traditional restaurants and bars. Despite recent tragic events, glad we went to Paris in the end as such a great city and one could only admire the fortitude of the people. Vive la France!

I recommend this hotel
I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel, the staff are very friendly and the rooms are very clean, affordable and even fairly roomy for European standards. The hotel is located very close to a metro station but is also about 25 min walk to Notre-Dame Cathedral. There are quite a few restaurants and local bakeries around are also a lot cheaper than in the downtown area. I also felt safe when walking around the area at night. Would definitely recommend this hotel!

I stayed here for two nights on a quick stop before heading back to the States. Although the room was tight, it was clean, comfortable, and quiet. It seems to have been recently renovated, so the furniture is all new. The front desk staff is very courteous and available 24 hours. As a solo female traveler, this part of the 13th arrondissement couldn't have been a safer and more convenient place to stay - the Place d'Italie metro stop is right around the corner, so no need to walk a long distance if returning from a night out. There is also a police station just down the street. The surrounding area has everything you need in terms of groceries, ATM, pharmacy, boulangerie (RIGHT next door, in fact), and a plethora of casual restaurants just a block away. I would definitely stay here again!

Perfect Hotel
I stayed at Hotel des Ecrivains for 4 nights. The hotel is clean, you have all the necessary in the rooms and the staff was welcoming! It located in a perfect location just 1 min walking distance to Place d'Italie, where you have a shopping centre and the most important the metro! I really enjoyed my stay there.

I had a wonderful stay. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. The hotel is very well maintained and clean. Lots of cafes and restaurants in the area and very close to the metro for exploring Paris further.

People who complain about the hotel are clearly not very cultured and haven't travelled thru Europe as the size is perfect! Plus you should be out seeing the city not sitting in your room...

it is great in many ways! Great transfer to many places in Paris via underground. Great location as there are many great restaurant nearby. The officer been really helpful and told us the right way to our destinations. Also the bed is really soft. We had a pleasant stay for 3 nights.

Good value hotel
We booked a double room with en-suite shower for a weekend stay. The room was very clean and had a safe, hair-dryer. Fairly small room but standard for Paris. The bed was extremely comfortable. 24 hour reception. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel but there was a good selection for a continental breakfast (cereals, pastries, toast, cheese, cold meats). Our room overlooked the street and we were not disturbed by any noise, however during the week there might be more activity (building works opposite). Great location, with metro stations (Gobelins and Place d'Italie) a few minutes' walk away and good local cafes and restaurants. Basic hotel amenities but good value for money. A hospitality tray in the room and a warmer welcome at reception would have made a pleasant stay even better! We would stay here again.

Good Location Close to Subway
Easy to get to and from the hotel. Older building and small room, but quite functional. Very helpful staff. Reasonably quiet area and room. Fortunately the room was on the first half floor, so it wasn't necessary to use the one-person size elevator, from which we would have had to walk down half a flight of stairs from anyway.
