Karen Alert! As I have said before if you are a miserable person who can't even find your way passed complaining about everything while in a beautiful beach setting in a beautiful old city with a million fun things to do... do not stay with us. We don't want to deal with you. The house is an old beach house and it is far from perfect but priced much more moderately than most other oceanfront properties. Most of what she said were extreme exaggerations or outright falsehoods. I'm assuming her comment about the towels being poor quality is that we tried some "sand free" beach towels which are different than normal towels but also don't get caked with sand...(who complains about the quality of towels?). Trash in the closet ? ...Complete fabrication I guess her review didn't sound bad enough so she had to fluff it up. Also I did respond to her every message. She was messaging both on my personal phone and through the VRBO message system so maybe she couldn't keep track. Owners beware of this one.

Just to clarify the interior stairs that this guest is talking about are only the ones that go up to the third floor loft which is basically a bonus room with 2 twin beds. Unless the guests that he had with him were elderly I don't see why there would be any reason to slip on the stairs. And I don't know who would put elderly people in the third floor bonus room with twin beds. Also not sure where hes getting the idea that the floors are uneven. The house was completely renovated after hurricanes Matthew and Irma and the floors are level the most part although it is an old beach house.

To say these guests were high maintenance is a vast understatement. The moment they walked into the property they conducted a white glove inspection and reported all of their findings to me. This woman literally complained about water being left in the water container of the Keurig coffee machine and crumbs in the toaster. I'm not only a host on VRBO but I am a frequent guest of other VRBO properties and I always ask myself if I would complain about items that some of my guests complain about and especially in this case the answer is flat out no. I have stayed in some places that we're not the best but I still managed to enjoy myself and I certainly would not be trifled by crumbs in a toaster or water left in the Keurig coffee maker. During the storm surge from Hurricane Nicole a lot of the Dune wildlife and vegetation was disturbed. We did have a colony of small sugar ants relocate near the house and some of them invited themselves inside. These are not the big red or black ants that bite but very small ants commonly called sugar ants. They were immediately dealt with prior to this guests stay... however as you may know after spraying for insects you will find some dead ones laying around. After her initial complaint we contacted Orkin and had them come out to spray again. The Orkin representative noted that he did not see any living ants in the house but this did not satisfy her. I really feel that some people are just miserable people and couldn't be happy regardless of where they are. This is a cute little beach house built directly on the dunes with private beach stairs just as the photographs show. There are no public beach access points nearby so your family will most likely have the beach largely to yourself with no crowds to fight. It's also just a short distance from historic St Augustine in one direction and the golf courses at TPC Sawgrass in the other direction. The house is professionally cleaned after each stay by what I feel is a very professional and reliable cleaning company that works very hard. It may not be perfect but it is very quaint and comfortable and in an ideal location. The vast majority of our guests love the house and the location and rave about how much they enjoyed their stay. If you are the type of person who likes to complain a lot or if you are an OCD neat freak please don't stay here we don't want to deal with you. We would much rather invite easygoing people who know how to enjoy themselves in a beautiful setting.

I checked the message VRBO message chain with this guest. We did not recieve one single message from them during their stay. The only messages we received were prior to their stay when they wanted to adjust their booking dates which we accommodated for them. The house is professionally cleaned, re-stocked and inspected prior to every stay. This does not however include windows which often get sea salt film on them due to being right on the ocean but the house is power washed quarterly. The claims that we "blatantly" ignored their messages are false. No messages were ever recieved through the VRBO messaging system. My personal contact info is also provided to each guest and no messages were received thay way either. I personally live 10 minutes away from the property and make it a point to respond quickly questions or concerns of any of our guests.
