It is an older hotel which I knew beforehand, and chose it. It is an historic hotel, as such does not have the same amenities as a new hotel, however there isn’t a “new” hotel in Rothesay. The room was a good size, bright with large windows….I had a great view of the bay. Staff were excellent, breakfast was very good, lots of options. I had dinner at the hotel twice, food was excellent, service good, prices reasonable. The maitre’d was excellent, very well trained in his role and as a result was an example to his staff…chef would mingle to a degree and interact with the guests. Overall stay was very good and as expected. Prices quite reasonable for a full service hotel. Would recommend the Glenburn.

Amazing location right from the ferry terminal is about three minutes up on a hill with a beautiful Waterview, historic hotel historic facilities, plaid everywhere we love staying here had a very warm, feeling dining room was open for both breakfast and dinner service which was excellent parking though was a bit of a nightmare.

I wanted a nice comfortable (affordable) place to relax in after attending a funeral on the Island. The Glenburn hotel adequately provided this.

Hotel has so much potential its a shame that there has not been more attention to detail. Staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming but bar was closed at 10pm on a Saturday night and i was unable to gain access to wine glasses or bottle openers for the room. Breakfast was barley warm and service was slow in being seated. Room was beautiful and overall we really enjoyed our stay.

Great location
Interior a bit tired looking but clean and comfortable. Lovely view from room and lounge/dining room balcony. Paid £5 for parking but hotel advised free parking when we got there. Limited evening meal menu. Central location. Would stay there again.

We feel fortunate to have stayed at this historic hotel. There are certainly cosmetic improvements to be made to the property but our room was easily 3star lovely and the view spectacular. Breakfast was good. The hotel shutdown for 2 years due to covid and we’re grateful it reopened.

Great views
Impressive building in great location with great views. You can still see the grandness of it but slightly outdated decor now. Cosy restaurant and porch with sea views. Lots of breakfast choices. The new owners introduced continental cut meat and cheese but you could tell the personnel did not know how to present (no serving forks and located openly without cooling on table in walkway). Good location for exploring Isle of Bute.

Room was ok back in the 80s an was clean needed a bit of dusting Carpet joins were terrible Breakfast was good Dinner - don’t bother was all out of fryer an chips with everything- go out for food

We had an absolutely fantastic time over our 5 days. Very welcoming, and so dog friendly- our 10month old lab puppy was fussed over. We will return. Rothesay itself is a wee bit run down and not a lot of eating places for evening meal choices, but lots of cafes, wee shops and co-op stores. The bays are just beautiful, we especially loved Scalpsie and Ettrick bay. The hotel food choices were great, and being vegetarian there were a few options, the buffet breakfast was brilliant although I did miss scrambled eggs(every other kind of egg is on offer). Our room was comfortable and quiet, the building is old therefore the walls etc aren’t perfection but we liked the oldy worldy feel about it. Can’t wait to come back! Thanks everyone !

A lovely property but needing a bit of an update, it was clean and comfortable, the staff were very nice and helpful. The room was spacious and had wonderful views of the sea.

Nice hotel, nice staff, shame no toiletries provided. Only negative was a mix up re breakfast not being included and not aware of this despite check in suggesting otherwise - unfortunately no one told me on any day that it wasn’t so a rather difficult issue at check out. Probably my fault for not noticing. But overall a lovely hotel and place to visit
