This hotel was a hiden gem. Beautiful small town, seems to have lots of history. In addition our stay had excellent breakfast and access to a wonderful spa. We found a great restaurant near by with an amazing dinner menu. Our room was great.

Restfull holiday, worth a visit
The property has been expertly upgraded, modernised but have managed to keep the traditional elements in place. Parking was readily available, free, in the grounds with the addition of an underground car park, chargeable.Room was very good size, comfortable, quiet with good comfortable beds. Although the pool was small, not for swimming in, it was agreat place to cool off in the heat. It was well kept, cleaned and being beside the pool bar, open all da, was a bonus. Ample sun loungers . Be aware that the main restaurant is not inside , it has been set outside on the terrace with ample umbrella coverings. Food was excellent but in my opinion a little expensive. Breakfast was also plentiful and served indoors with a good choice, all be it too many sweet items for me. Must compliment their ability to keep the hot food hot was excellent. Most unusual in other hotels. Only disappointment was the fact that the town's Therme next door was closed for a 2 year renovation project. Would go again.

Some of the reviews for this hotel suggest that it isn't really a five star hotel. We felt it earned the 5th star through its wonderful spa, which had excellent facilities and wonderful staff. The rest of the hotel is stylish, well positioned and again has excellent staff. It is fair to say that, whilst pretty and well furnished, the rooms aren't "wow" but they are good. Others have also written about the lacklustre breakfast, we see where they are coming from but the cold buffet was amazing: a variety of fresh fruit, a cake table as good as any we've seen in Italy and soooo many juice choices. It would be nice if the coffee was self-service though. Overall an amazing hotel in which to stay and a lovely town to spend the week.

Not bad.. not great
The hotel has nice rooms and the spa is quite nice. It’s a pity that the breakfast is so bad. Many things were dry (old) and something as basic as an orange juice is considered an extra. This really gave an impression that the hotel is cutting costs... not nice for a hotel that puts on a 5 star sign next to its name. Really sorry about this cause everything else was quite nice, but the weak point was just too weak.

Good but strange pool program
It is a very nice hotel with comfortable rooms and good breakfast and services. The program of the amenities could be extended, from 10:00 to 19:00 usually you don't stay in hotel.

Wonderful!
Beautiful hotel, great vibe, super clean, phenomenal spa, but note it closes usually by 7:30pm, totally worth it!!! Loved, love, love, this hotel. Wish I lived closer to take advantage of spa and also beautiful quaint town to walk around in, nice shops and restaurants all walking distance. Super breakfast. Hated to leave, thanks for a fantastic stay!!

This hotel is wonderful, the staff is incredibly nice and professional. The premises are kept if perfect conditions. I used the spa both times I was there for different services and both times I had a great experience. I will definitely return.

Truly Outstanding Experience

Place was clean.pleasent staff.I was just wondering why the charge for parking when it is advertized “free” on the internet. The spa is good but does not have always a pleasent staff.

Very good service. I never left a hotel review before but I will do it for this one. The staffs are friendly, especially the housekeepers. They were so neat and considerate. They folded my charging cables and even folded the dirty clothes that I left on a chair in my room and stacked them up neatly. I have been to many hotels but neither of them had this impressive services. The spa is amazing! I love the scented shower, sauna, and the herbal streaming room. The breakfast food line is extraordinary. I would definitely go back if I ever visit Italy again.l

Nice hotel in the middle of town
Friendly and helpful staff.The room is spacious and well equipped. Buffet breakfast is good but surprised to find out that if you want any any eggs other than hard boiled eggs you have to pay extra eg 8 Euro for an omelet

Very comfortable 5 star hotel. Staff are friendly and helpful. The spa is very good. Ideally located for exploring the small but interesting town of Salsomaggiore.

A special hotel
It was raining when we arrived and we weren’t sure where to park but the concierge came out with an umbrella and was very helpful. A beautiful hotel with everything you need including parking on the property. Walking distance to everything in this beautiful town. We ate in one of the hotels restaurants which was ok but not up to the standard of the hotel. I think this hotel should be 6 star, you do feel special here.

Perfect for a short timeout
Very nice and spacious room. Very comfortable bed. Only bathtub and no actual shower, that was a little difficult. Breakfast was nothing special. Nice little town nearby, nice restaurants.

Lovely hotel, rude staff ruined it though!
Very rude staff. No tea or coffee in the room so I called to have these re-stocked and this took 1.5 hours and 3 separate phone calls. The hotel was at 25% occupancy so not busy at all. The receptionist was particularly rude, answered the phone with "Yes.." rather than a formal greeting. On the way out I went to the front desk to sort it out and her response was "This is not my problem" which was a very shocking reply. I asked to speak to the hotel manager 3 times and she refused outright to put me in touch - hence writing this review. Appalling behaviour!
