My home away from home! A comfortable and exciting place to be. The staff is fantastic, a great energy to be surrounded in and it’s so close to the beach. I highly recommend you stay here when you visit Tamarindo. PURA VIDA!!!

While the staff was very friendly, the location convenient, the private suite was beautiful and I enjoyed the night market activity and welcome drinks, there were several issues during my stay. In five days, my room was only cleaned once and they left a dirty rag on my nightstand. There was no gas in the ovens to cook, the TV didn't work, there was a mini bar menu but no mini bar, there was a coffee machine in my room but no coffee, I asked twice to have the light and tap fixed in my bathroom and nothing happened. The kitchen was missing several things like sharp knives, cutting boards, pens and stickers to label food, no "free" food section which is very common in hostels, basics like oil and pepper. Also, I asked for information on an activity and never heard back. At checkout, they said I hadn't paid when I already had. This is a party hostel and pretty loud so great if you're a social butterfly, otherwise not so much. It was a shame so many things went wrong! Not sure I would recommend.

A few disappointments. It's a hostel and you have to hide or walk far to smoke a cigarette or drink a beer. The restaurant is very costy and they don't allow us to sit by the pool with our own food or drinks. Bathrooms were not so clean and our room in 4 days was never cleaned.

Arrived to the property with one booking for 4 nights, initially they couldn't find our booking but turns out that they had overbooked the rooms. We ended up having to move rooms nearly every day - and were initially expected to spend the time between check out and check in without a room, until we had a stern word with management that this was unacceptable. Reception staff and management made out that they were doing us a favour by finding us a room and blaming us for booking through Expedia - we did suggest that perhaps they shouldn't list the hotel on Expedia if they don't want people to book through this website.... The bar/restaurant staff were amazing though!!

Small rooms, low quality. Wouldn't recommend
I was expecting a lot more from Selina, a chain which I like a lot. The room was a tiny caravan, the staff was not welcoming, the check-in was super slow, and the breakfast was not good. The atmosphere was good, and the hot water was fine. I wouldn't recommend.

Bad experience
The rooms were small. the shower flooded the bedroom. the receptionist didn’t do anything except bring extra towels. we didn’t get any kind of compensation and all of our things got wet. When we checked out we told them about everything that happened but they didn’t care.

This property is still in the works , the room I got wasn’t the one in the pic posted on . So felt deceived . The staff is wonderful . It would be nice if they would inform the residents before they turn off the water for hours some days .

They do not clean the rooms everyday. Stayed last week doe BPM, and will never not come back. Cost 1000 dlls per week, I bet you can find better options

Great place! Fun and good energy!! Only downside we booked the queen bedroom and the bed is terrible its not really a bed. Other than that, everything great!! Very good location also!! Take surf lessons with Jonathan he is the best!!

Serves a purpose but would not recommend
Hotel pictures on any aggregator site (i.e. Bookings.com, Hotels.com, ect) are very deceiving. The picture of the rooms or the angles they are taken from or the age of them do not truly reflect how the rooms look. Our bedroom smelled of bathroom/toilet water. The shower edges had mildue on them. The floor was dirty. The bedroom was made up, however, the comforter did not appear to be something you wanted to lay on. As a result, we pulled it off the bed. The staff at the front desk were reasonably polite. I did not receive our free breakfast coupons. However, after inquiring about them at a later time I reveiced them. The breakfast itself was pretty bad. I ordered a continental style breakfast that consisted of a bowl of pineapple and papaya. My wife receiver the same thing with eggs. Both took approx 35 or so minutes to receive, when the lounge area was barely filled with anyone else. Overall, we only stayed for one day, which was MORE than enough. Call it age or just a higher standard, but hotel/hostel was not up to snuff. If you are a college student looking for a cheap stay with a group of friends or even solo travel, this may suffice at the lowest level. Beyond that, I would probably look elsewhere.

Cute spot! Everyone was very friendly. It was right next to beach which was great, as well as close to the center of town! There’s also a restaurant, bar and pool equipped with chairs, umbrellas and games. Can’t beat the price either!

First, this hostel works well for any traveler looking for a fun and lively stay. It certainly is designed for younger or solo travelers. Despite not being advertised, this is a hostel. It is quite loud and busy from 8am onward. Wary travelers looking for a respite will be disappointed that this is challenging to achieve here if your are not up before 7:30-8:00am. For instance, the bar/ restaurant was bumping music during my 8:30 am breakfast. Fun when I was 18, not when you are 30 and trying to catch up with friends and family back home or read a newspaper in peace. However, the staff was incredible. The rooms clean. Although again, even the single rooms are hostel like... bare bones, a bunk bed in a closet. But, the AC was fantastic! Check in and out was seamless. Highly recommend this place to the 21 and younger crowd!

First time in a Selina and was a great experience! We stayed in the deluxe king room with private bathroom which was clean and the ac was nice and cold! I cannot review the share bathroom because didn’t use it! The staff was great and helpful... location is great and common kitchen was clean and large! Overall I love the experience in Selina Tamarindo

The VIBE in the place is effectively a positive point... no hot water, parking lot flooded and on the last day surprise! No water! Great for a Sunday where people have to leave for long trips (May 26th 2019). Accommodation is ok and the cafeteria is really good. Another negative point is the security at night super rude and treating people like if everyone was trying to break rules or something like that. Definitively an experience not to repeat.

The hospitality of this property was far better than any other hostel i've been to in any country. The front desk staff went above and beyond. I'll never stay anywhere else in tamarindo.

Bugs all over the room. Floors, walls, shower and crawling on the sheets and pillows. Toilet didn't work, front desk lied and said someone was coming in 20 mins to fix it. No one ever came. We checked out after one night because the infestation was too much for us to tolerate. Slept in the hammocks outside because there were literally fewer bugs outside. Wouldn't even recommend this hotel to my worst enemy. Dirty and disgusting. Front desk lady was rude and unhelpful. Said they are very aware of the bug problem (yet still charge top dollar for their bug infested rooms).

Huge hostel with nice private rooms, 3 pools, yoga studio, coworking space, and a host of other amenities! Great location on the top of the hill, just a ten minute walk down to Manuel Antonio Beach. Organizes day trips for those who are interested.

Fun Hostel!
This is a great hostel to stay if you want to meet people and be close to everything! They also offer surf lessons, have a great kitchen, and the friendliest staff ever. Another great thing about Selina is that they have multiple chains around Costa Rica, so if you plan to visit another part of the country, you can mention you've stayed at Selina at your previous destination to get a special rate. In terms of cleanliness, don't expect a 5-star hotel, but it's not bad to get the job done for a safe place to crash. Lots of ants/bugs in rooms too, but again, the hostel is basically set up like cabins in a camping ground. Music in the common area does start as early as 7-8 am, so sleeping in might be hard for any light sleepers. However, if you are looking to meet people, you'll be sure to keep yourself company at this hostel!
