Very clean, staff really friendly, checked in early as room ready. Breakfast amazing and silver service waitress, great choice. Water in room, tea, coffee etc.

Whilst the hotel is a little dated it is more than made up for by the cleanliness and friendliness of the staff. They went above & beyond to make our stay great. Would absolutely recommend them.

Great break ... lovely hotel.
Extremely clean and comfortable hotel. Superb parking arrangement, we have a blue badge though there was a car park opposite. Quite a few stairs in the hotel but staff helped with bags. We have stayed in Whitby a few times now and this was the best overall experience we have had. The staff were fantastic (not OTT but so genuine and helpful). Breakfast was amazing and all portions were generous. There was a lovely choice for dinner too, everything was beautifully presented, cooked and served. Location was great for us, out of the centre but close to the beach and Pavilion for our event. We will certainly be returning. Thank you.

New Year 2024
Beautiful traditional hotel in a quiet area but easy short walk into Whitby. Reception lovely and room great. Nice and warm. Breakfast service and quality is excellent. Staff very obliging.

Wonderful staff-nothing to much trouble. Food excellent. Lovely and warm-no stinting on the central heating(our stay was in November). We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Short trip to Whitby and while the hotel was a bit old fashioned, it ticked all the boxes. Staff were lovely and the breakfast was excellent. Thank you

We had a lovely one night stay here. Parking was very easy (we were allowed to leave the car in the car park before we'd checked in and after we'd checked out). Staff were very friendly, and the breakfast table service was lovely. There was a slight smell of gas during the night in our room however, and the shower head drooped down and didn't stay in place. Minor gripes. Would definitely stay again.

A bit scary nonetheless we can say we have extra guidelines on safety when it comes to gas. We have system in place from alarms to other standards if there was any gas on the premises we would been known and alarmed. I also as the night porter check if everything is switched off at night that I double check but we have checked make sure everything is okay. I explaining this so you know there are systems in place when it comes to gas and your not worried as of course it would worry anyone. As for the shower we had maintenance to go and look at it so thank you for letting us know. We happy to hear you enjoyed you breakfast with us. We happy to hear you stay again as we love to welcome you again. Best regards.

Lovely visit
Lovely small hotel. Stayed in a single room (#3) and only had one small flight of stairs to manage. Room well equipped (comfy bed, side tables, dresser/drawers, chairs and cupboard with hangars). Bathroom well equipped with good shower over sink and soaps/shampoo/cotton buds provided. Radiators in both main room and bathroom. Only tiny tiny niggles would be provision of a bath towel rather than sheet (I like to wrap myself up!) and the irritatingly small individual milk cartons to use with the free tea/coffee. Breakfast was full table service - nice big room with plenty of space around the tables. Brilliant staff looking after the guests and plenty of choice for both meat eaters and veggies (traditional choices rather than your hipster fanciness). All staff in place were super efficient and really friendly.

Charming throwback
Really enjoyed our stay at the Saxonville. It’s a bit of a throwback in time to when things were done properly. Silver service, wedgewood and silverware all around, not to mention full waitress service. Spotless rooms and great staff add to the charm and character. Also, less than ten minutes walk to Whitby’s famous whale bones. The only downside was the lounge furniture which could do with an update as first impressions do actually count. Overall, well done everyone.

4 star service for 3 star hotel.
Travelled to Whitby for a 2 night stay. Location of hotel was great as easy walking distance into to town centre and attractions. The service provided was excellent. Breakfast was brilliant (table service), and a good range of options. Water and refreshments were provided in our room on arrival and also alternative options for food allergy.
