I went into this stay well informed thanks to other reviews...so I want to pay it forward. First off, there's nothing wrong with the hotel. It's a convenient location, just off the highway, with Braum's restauraunt/mini grocery next door & QwikTrip, JumpStart, KFC on the other side of the highway. It was quiet for our midweek 2-night stay. We had a first floor room with hot tub. The room did smell a bit...like a pool locker room? Combo of the hot tub & being right next to the hotel's in-house laundry I think. By turning the a/c on high with constant fan and the bathroom exhaust fan on with the bathroom door open, it got better quickly. The jets in the hot tub did not work, but my daughter had a blast swimming around in it anyway. The staff was very friendly and helpful (I didnt make a fuss about the hottub but did let them know). The breakfast was yummy, with hot biscuits, eggs and gravy and a self-serve waffle maker, various juices, cereal, yogurt, bagels, muffins, etc. The coffee maker was broken. The pool looked very nice and clean, but we never made it in. The room could have been cleaner - the bedsheets were clean and surfaces wiped down, but there was a weird stain on the armchair and on the curtains that I cleaned off myself. I think they are just understaffed so only the basics get addressed. The laundry takes quarters and you'll need to go to the gas station for that. Dont use the vending machines, theyll steal your money. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves, very relaxing

The staff was so unfriendly and the hotel was so dirty. The lemon water in the lobby had been sitting for so long it was bubbling. The coffee machine was broken and they only had a small coffee pump that would only hold about 10 cups of coffee, so it ran out immediately.

The AC didn't work in the 3rd floor hallway. The card reader didn't work for our room so we waited in the hot hallway while the night manager tried to fix it. Finally just got a different room. The room was okay but the shower was not in good condition. The light by the beds flickered while we were trying to sleep. The night manager was very nice and did his best to help us out. Clearly the property needs some regular maintenance and upkeep.

Time for an update
Our stay was an over night on the way to our destination. The buliding was wore trash had not been collecet in the hall ways for severl days and smelled. Our room was clean if very worn. The staff were all very nice and efficient with great attitudes.

I reserved two queen beds, they gave me a one king bed room. I got it switched to a king suite, which meant my son (who had to play hoops all weekend) either had to sleep with me (he didn't) or sleep on the pullout couch. That's not fair. Wasn't offered a partial refund, either. Also, they didn't have any towels both times I asked for them. The staff was very nice and did the best they could, but it was frustrating for the price

I was thoroughly impressed by my stay at this hotel. I chose it mainly for its EV charger, and it proved to be a lifesaver. Arriving around 11 pm on a cold night with a nearly depleted battery, I was relieved when the front desk attendant not only directed me to the charger but personally walked me to its location at the back of the hotel. His efficient check-in process ensured I was able to rest quickly. The exceptional customer service truly stood out, and I'm very pleased with my decision to stay here.

Check in was at 3pm and we did not get our room until 6:30pm. Once we got our room a severe storm came through and knocked power out at 7:30pm. People ran to the stairwell to get down to lobby. We all ended up stuck in the ground floor stairwell. The door to the lobby had a sheared off door handle that was not openable. So we were trapped with adults freaking out and kids crying. Once the storm ended we sat in the car for awhile to cool down because the hotel was so hot from no power. When going back in there were three guys with jeans, gold chains, and un button shirts smoking outside. They looked sketchy and not friendly at all. Come to find out one of them was the GM and another was the front desk. The front desk had hot bottle water and granola bar for the inconvenience. I emailed the GM (sketchy dude) about our issues and this was “his” response I guess. Comfort Inn GM in Newton, KS The door your complaining about is supposed to be an exit only, Which we have checked with fire department and is ok since its an exit only. I am upset to see people were propping it open. We were encouraging people to leave that night with a full refund to find a hotel with electric. Im sorry we can not help things like a tornado. I will refund you however,if you have a way to stop natural disasters like that please inform us how? Why didnt you say something to the GM who was down stairs handing out bottled water and snacks half the night?

The location is convenient and easy to find. The staff was friendly. Breakfast was good and had a variety of items to choose from. The bed was comfortable. The neighborhood seems fairly quiet even though it is close to the interstate. It seems that the common areas could be cleaner. Overall, it was not a bad place to stay.
