Cheap and adequate hotel
About half an hour walk to Xi'an centre. But buses stop very close and are cheap. I had the cheapest room which was on the ground floor and a bit dark and dingy. But still good value for money. Staff were very helpful, but few spoke English. But we managed and they helped get me a car to the airport, etc. Restaurant food is ok, and also good price. Food mall and supermarket just 5 mins away across the road...look for a small doorway covered by plastic strips and it unveils a whole other world inside.

Decent hotel, in general
The hotel is decent, but I have not found anyone at the reception desk who spoke English well enough that I could communicate with properly. The room is decent; however there is sometimes a urine smell which seems to come from the drainage or the bathroom fan when the fan is turned on. The hotel room is clean in general; but don't expect a 4 or 5 star hotel. The location is great, and it is walking distance to the mall, to various shops, and the subway. There are also a lot of outside vendors selling food and fruits.

Good value, a bit out of central area
Clean, good wifi, nice restaurant that will do in a pinch with good prices on local beer. It's too far to walk from the Bell Tower central area, but plenty of taxis. Very good value for the money.

Budget hotel
Hotel was a very simple budget hotel in an ok location for Xian. In hindsight i feel i could have done a lot better in Xian. If you are looking for a very simple budget hotel in Xian with little or no amenities its ok for an overnight stay

Just Off Centre
After a fight to get a room with an exterior window, the rest of my stay was fine. However, I made the booking based on it's proximity to the metro. It turns out that only a couple of the planned 100's of railway stations have actually been opened in Xi'An, and none of them was near my hotel. Luckily taxis are cheap; the city is dead flat, and within the old city walls the hotel is an easy stroll to most of the historic landmarks. At present the Airport and The Terracotta Warriors are still a long hike from the centre of this vast and booming city. As in almost every Chinese hotel I stayed at during 2 months, there was noisy 24 hour construction work next-door, so always try to get a room on the quietest side, even if it means a few flights of stairs. (most hotels are fairly empty, so they shut down whole wings and elevators etc. to conserve power)

Very good basic hotel for budget travelers
Basic clean room for resting and sleeping. The receptionist is very helpful despite limited English - this hotel do not take foreign credit card and you need to prepare cash for deposit.There are some construction going on around the vicinity of the hotel- it's a 20 minutes walk to Bell Tower but be warned some lanes are not pedestrian friendly and can be quite dangerous to walk ( need to be mindful of traffic coming from both sides). The hotel restaurant close by 9:30pm. No bottled water but clean sheets, clean towels, clean room - good for the price paid

Great hotel if you like to save money, have a clean place to sleep! About 10 minute walk north to metro, 15 minute walk west to the Bell Tower. Clean, courteous, budget friendly!

Good location for tourist
Within city area. Short walk to pedestrian street, located near Wanda Mall. Local delicacies, located in a building just slightly to the left on the opposite side of the road, before KFC. Bus stop nearby but subway needs 15 minutes walk. Then again you can stroll along the pedestrian street on the way to Wulugou subway station.

Adequate no frills lodging.
Jin jiang had a wide range of qualities in its hotels across China. This particular building is clean and centrally located but very basic and lacking in character. The rooms are quite small and the one in which I stayed had a window facing a cement wall. The room was adequately clean and contained all the typical toiletries and amenities for a comfortable nights stay. My only complaint about the room is a strong smell of cigarette smoke.

Good base for solo travellers to Xi'an
The JinJiang Inn is well located about 20 minutes walk from the centre of Xi'an, and 10 minutes from the main railway station (there are plenty of convenient buses to both). JinJiang is one of the top 3 budget business hotel chains, and provides simple, clean, functional rooms, with no frills. The bed was reasonably comfortable; wireless internet access worked well; the bathroom was clean and contained a decent shower and Western style toilet; there were tea making facilities in the room; and the breakfast, available for a small supplement, was outstanding value. I say for solo travellers as there was only one chair in the room, and couples may wish to pay for something a little more luxurious.

Stayed here with Chinese family. Jinjiang Inn is a well known hotel chain in China with affordable rooms but no luxury. Free WiFi in the rooms is nice. Convenient location within the old city walls of Xian and close to the old train station.

This hotel is about 15-20mins walking distance from the city center (bell tower). Along that route are many shopping stores. There is a huge supermarket about 5 mins walking distance (to the right of KFC, with the hanging plastic drapes). So, the location is not so bad. Hotel room is clean. They have wifi in the whole hotel. The staff is nice, but some staff may not be able to understand English that well. Overall, the place is nice and inexpensive.

Very Pleasant Stay
The hotel is clean and comfortable and the service from the counter staff was excellent. The location is convenient and allows me to use public transport to the city centre to visit the Bell Tower, Drum Tower, shopping areas and most of all the Muslim Quarters with it very tasty food and assorted products. I had a very pleasant holiday.

They are building a metro station near by, but no idea when it is going to open (perhaps next year). As well as many other Chinese budget hotels staff is friendly but speak little English, but I didn't have any problem with this.

Not luxurious, but this was a great deal. The room was very clean, one single bed and one double bed (Standard Room A). No refrigerator, but air conditioning worked well and it had outlets which accept US style plugs in addition to the local ones. Breakfast was good and inexpensive. Staff spoke enough English to help us check in and out, but not much more than. Generally much better than I expected when paying so little. Location inside the old city walls is nice.

Good, basic hotel. Staff very friendly, limited English spoken, but helped with use of translation devices. Room clean and bright. No drawers to put clothes away. Bathroom tiny. Breakfast buffet was a variety of chinese dishes, toast, tea and coffee. Great value at 18yuan. Bar was never open during our time there (two nights). Good location for access to North Railway station for buses to Terracotta Army. 15mins walk from Bell Tower in centre of town.

The hotel is simple, clean, and nice, not a fancy place but very serviceable and pleasant. Reserved a double and a single but the two room types were in separate parts of the building and could not be adjacent. Added to that, the elevator serving the "single room" section was out of order, so we anted up extra for a second double so our family group could be nearby. The English skills of the clerk were modest, and even with a friend translating the situation confused him and check-in took well over an hour. Breakfast buffet is very good and a real bargain.

Reasonable and clean domestic mid-range hotel
Had a reservation for two rooms, one single and one double. The rooms were clean and comfortable and well maintained. Once we got in, everything was fine, the people friendly enough and cooperative, the breakfast very inexpensive and quite good. Check-in, however, took over an hour amid much confusion. They seemed not to be used to non-Chinese customers. We asked for rooms on the same floor and at first they were -- numerically -- but in two separate columns of the building and inaccessible to one another from the same floor. It was explained that all the rooms on one side are doubles, on the other side, singles. But the elevator for the single rooms was broken, so just for tonight please walk up, ok? 6th floor? With luggage? Uh, no. Eventually we paid extra on site for two double rooms so we could be nearby (two parents and a 20's daughter).

Good budget option, but...
I got a good, cheap deal on this hotel and for that it was good value. My room was on the ground floor at the back of the hotel (I suspect these are the 'cheap deal' rooms), so my 'city view' consisted of the wall of the building three feet away on the other side of an alley (I won't speculate about what went on behind the door in the wall, but men seemed to come and go quite frequently!). Reception staff spoke sufficient English to enable checking-in etc. to go ok. Location pretty good, on main drag. Room was ok, a bit frayed at the edges, towels always clean, but getting a bit threadbare, internet fine. At the price, I'd stay there again; if I'd paid more I'd have probably been a little disappointed.
