"Maria Cristina is undoubtedly a beautiful, characterful hotel. The Basque welcome from reception was really appreciated. We received a lovely glass of the local wine and the person who checked us in was so pleasant and helpful and that theme continued throughout. The reception and door staff couldn’t do enough. We had room 301. An upgrade from the garden view we had booked. A spacious room, very comfortable bed, Byredo products. On the downside there weren’t any tea / coffee making facilities!...

Every room is designed so it is completely private, so you can have the curtains open on the entire glass wall in the bedroom and look out over the Bay of Biscay, and soak in the tub while inhaling the ocean air. You are practically outside. They really take care of you, here. They have a spa, and they are attached to the Akelarre Restaurant (3 Michelin stars) that started it all. "

"Impressive building, right on the seafront, nice character. Really lovely staff and service. Nice decor in the rooms, furnished to a high standard, big beds, nice linen and many pillows! We were kindly upgraded (bc Gold Hotels.com member?) to a sea view room, which was lovely. Despite the rain getting in and soaking the carpet by the French windows (just an upkeep issue). The spa is really nice, vaulted ceilings, impressive reception area that you pass through. Good sauna and steam room. Not...

"The staff who met us by our car, after easily entering the lot to park, was professional and informative and even joyful. The front desk arranged our dining. The restaurant and bar were lovely. We won’t bother considering other accommodations in Biarritz in the future!"

"Alberto (employee) changed the package I was promised by one of the hotel employees (that quit her job by the time we arrived) and instead of having a prepared package like promised by her, he just said no it’s not possible that she gave you this. So I cancelled my last 2 days for the unpleasant treatment. I expected more from a 5 star. "

"Overall the facilities are great on paper, however the management give a very clear impression and direction that the facilities are not to be used. It felt like being in school with some very strict and judgmental head teachers who monitored our every move. Having paid 310 euros per night, I expect to be able to feel at home and use the facilities that are advertised. I will not book again and could not in all good consciousness recommend this facility to anyone."
